More about Three Days Of Rain
Hollywood mega-star Julia Roberts will make her Broadway first appearance this spring in a revival of Richard Greenberg's Three Days of Rain. The making, directed by Joe Mantello, brings Roberts mutually with Bradley Cooper and Paul Rudd at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre previewing from March 28.
Set in New York, Three Days of Rain centers on a brother Walker (Paul Rudd), his sister (Julia Roberts) and their upbringing friend Pip (Bradley Cooper) who meet to settle their parents' estate. The two fathers were long-time friends and associates in architecture; their legacy is the radiantly daring creation, the 1960's Janeway House. But whose was the guiding hand? In this tense and brittle reunion, much more is at stake than who gets the house.
Brother and sister discover their father's bland, sparse diary, and use it to create a story for themselves that will explain away the in attendance and make sense of their parent's passionless marriage. Over the "three days of rain" entered in the young architect's diary, the same three actors then play their parents and reveal a romantic meaning and creative quandary that none of these children could ever have imagined.
The first act introduces the audience to Walker and Nan, brother and sister, and best friend Pip, with whom they grew up. The trio attends the reading of the sibling's father's will. Act two is set thirty years past. It explores the relationship between Ned and Theo, fledgling architects, and Theo's girlfriend Lina, and seeks to answer questions raised in the first act
