Houdini the Musical Information:

The great Harry Houdini, born Erik Weisz, was born March 24, 1874 and died on October 31, 1926. The Hungarian-born magician who became an American was a mesmerizing and daring magician who became famous across the U.S. for his perilous endeavors. An aviator, stuntman, actor, movie producer, and escapologist, Harry Houdini was admired for the many exciting things he could do. He was also known for seeking out frauds who claimed to have supernatural abilities. From a young age Houdini, who arrived in the U.S. when he was four years old, began dabbling in tricks and escape acts. When he was eighteen Harry Houdini officially began his magic career. Performing with his brother and as a side show act, Houdini got his big break in 1899 when he was twenty-five after meeting the famed manager Martin Beck. Within months Houdini was performing at the top vaudeville acts on the Orpheum circuit and soon the venue was selling out everywhere. The exciting and charismatic debonair Houdini continues to mystify audiences with his legacy even nearly a century later. And now world-wide movie star Hugh Jackman has taken on the daring role to capture the energy of Harry Houdini. Houdini will be reaching Broadway with Jackman as the handsome lead who will be singing and dancing as the famous illusionist. Hugh Jackman already has depicted a magician in another hit film of his and he has an open respect and intrigue for magicians.
