Born on June 28 th 1986 in Albemarle, North Carolina as Kellie Dawn Picker, Kellie was born to her mother, Cynthia Morton, and father, Clyde Pickler. A large part of Kellie Pickler's life and influences ahs to do with her grandfather, Clyde Pickler Sr., who was an electrician. And her grandmother Fayke Pickler. Raised in Palestine, Kellie Pickler lived with her grandfather and younger sibling, Eric, until she was chosen to be a part of the reality music series American Idol.
Pickler didn't have the easiest childhood. She describes her father as an alcoholic and drug addict, and he recently served a three year and nine month prison sentence in the Florida State Prison for aggravated assault and battery from a 2003 stabbing incident. Kellie Pickler took from her grandfather a much stronger guidance than her birth father gave to her.

She was also nominated for an Academy of Country Music Awards for top new female vocalist of the year, and won an American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers songwriter award for "Red High Heels".
