It all started in 1984 when vocalist Dave Brockie was playing with the punk rock band Death Piggy, which was basically just a ridiculous crude humored group that performed with obnoxious props and hilarious lyrics. When the band was getting together to practice at the Richmond Dairy, an old dairy plant taken over by hippies who rented out space to artists, the Piggy boys met two other boys by the names of Hunter Jackson and Chuck Varga. Jackson and Varga were attending Virginia Commonwealth University and at the Richmond Dairy fixing up set for a horror movie they were planning on shooting called Scumdogs of the Universe . All of the boys hit it off quite well, and helped each other out in making costumes and props for the crazy sets and shows the Death Piggy's performed. Soon enough the Death Piggy's turned into Gwar, and the method to the madness was born.

At the beginning of the making of Gwar, the original cast was that of vocalist Ben Eubank, Dave Brockie and Steve Douglas on guitars, Chris Bopst on bass guitar, Sean Sumner on drums and Hunter Jackson. It would then turn into a repeated amount of guys dropping and then new guys getting into the Gwar lineup for quite some time. Pretty soon some ladies were brought into the lineup, Heather Broome and Colette Miller. Broome bounced on out of Gwar not too soon after. It was come and go for the lineup of Gwar for quite some time, but that didn't stop their antics and amazing mathematical equation never quite seen before from producing amazing products and performances all over and over again.

As of now, the solid cast of Gwar in their official stage names are: Oderus Urungus, Beefcake the Mighty, Flattus Maximus, Balsac the Jaws of Death and Jizmak Da Gusha. You got to hand it to then, the group definitely knows how to come up with some stuff you never ever thought was possible to even imagine, and that is why people fall in love with them over and over again no matter what age or love of music. Their fan base is as crazy eclectic as they are.

Seeing Gwar live is a crazy experience that will likely get you some crazy goo landing on you as they are famous for spraying the audiences with odd liquids. As well, they poke satirical fun at political, influential and not so influential figures all over such as every President ever, Paris Hilton, Osama Bin Laden, Michael Jackson and Adolf Hitler. Nothing is off limits for Gwar.

It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the act that Gwar puts on, and will be full of endless conversation and memories to say the least. Stay in the know with all ticket information as it becomes available for your seats at the Gwar 2008 live show near you.
