The Cleveland Cavaliers are the 2016 NBA Champions for the 1st time in NBA History along with LeBron James being named the Finals MVP for the 3rd time in his career after coming back from being down 3-1 against the Golden State Warriors and defeating them in Game 7 93-89 where LeBron James led the team in scoring where he scored a triple double of 27 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks, Kevin Love led the team in rebounds where he had 9 points, 14 rebounds, and 2 steals, and Kyrie Irving also had a big game with 26 points and 6 rebounds. After a historic Finals run LeBron James led the team in every category where he averaged 26.3 ppg, 9.5, rpg, 7.6 apg, 2.3 spg, and 1.3 bpg. Good News for the Cavs Kyrie Irving has been named to the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team for the 2nd time and have acquired the draft rights to Kay Felder from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for cash considerations. It was one of the worst weeks for the Cavs, as the team went 1-3, losing to the Detroit Pistons, Toronto Raptors and Washington Wizards. The only game Cleveland managed to win was against the Charlotte Hornets. James sat out the game against the Wizards to rest his body, and the Cavs lost 113-99, as Kyrie Irving was the only bright spot with 28 points and 6 assists. After the Wizards game, guard J.R. Smith ripped the Cavs for the lack of energy, saying that they can’t contend for championship or Finals berth with the way the team is playing lately. The Cavaliers are now just two games ahead of the Raptors in the standings, but they have slightly easier schedule, with only three games remaining against Top 4 teams in the West and East (one against each, Clippers, Celtics and Heat).

The Cavs won all their three games last week, getting ready for the Christmas matchup with the Golden State Warriors. The Cavs beat the Boston Celtics (89-77), the OKC Thunder (104-100), and the Philadelphia 76ers (108-86). James got the best out of Kevin Durant in the Thunder game, finishing with 33 points and 11 assists. Kyrie Irving had his season debut against the Sixers, scoring 12 points to go along with 2 assists, 1 steal and turnovers in 17 minutes of action. Irving made 5 of his 12 shots, including 2-2 from the 3-pt line. After the game, Irving said it was pleasure to get back on the court with his teammates. The point guard missed his first five shots before making a layup with James getting a steal at midcourt. Iman Shumpert also got back to the lineup last week for the Cavaliers, but they are now without back-up point guard Mo Williams, who missed his second game with strained right thumb. The Cavs will hope to get him back for the Christmas matchup against the Golden State Warriors in a Finals rematch.
