The point guard missed his first five shots before making a layup with James getting a steal at midcourt. Iman Shumpert also got back to the lineup last week for the Cavaliers, but they are now without back-up point guard Mo Williams, who missed his second game with strained right thumb. The Cavs will hope to get him back for the Christmas matchup against the Golden State Warriors in a Finals rematch.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have just recently had there Media Day which is headlined by LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, JR Smith, Anderson Varejao, Iman Shumpert, and James Jones where they will be ready to go on another title run. They will make sure they will need to stay healthy after losing Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, and Anderson Varejao to injuries during there Finals run where LeBron James had to nearly carry the load. The Cavs have also added Mo Williams and Richard Jefferson this offseason for insurance policies.

  • 09/07/2015

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Tristan Thompson are still in talks trying to get a deal done. So far it looks difficult because Tristan Thompson wants more money which makes it tough for Cleveland because they already have max deal on there big 3. Tristan Thompson was a huge reason why the Cleveland Cavaliers were able to get to the NBA Finals after Kevin Love going down with a shoulder injury during Game 4 against the Boston Celtics. The Cleveland Cavaliers look to win there 1st ever NBA Championship with there core of LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, J.R. Smith, Anderson Varejao, and Tristan Thompson who they still need to resign and are expected to be at the top of the East again.

The Mo Williams signing looks more and more like an absolute great move by the Cleveland Cavaliers. With the news that starting All Star point guard Kyrie Irving will miss games during the regular season, Williams looks like an ideal fit to take over starting point guard duties at least until Irving gets back. Latest reports are that the Cavs will be cautious with their young point guard and let him rest and heal until January. The reports coming from the Cavs camp is that Irving is healthy and well, but they want to be sure and ease the pressure on Kyrie. In the meantime, Williams will be their starting point guard. Last week, the Cavs trimmed their roster for training camp, sending their second round pick Sir Dominic Pointer to the NBA D-League. The 53rd pick of the 2015 draft will play for the Canton Charge.

The Cavs will have to pay a huge tax bill next season, but it seems as the team is happy to do it if it results with a title. The team finally agreed on terms with J.R. Smith, who signed a two year contract. The value of the contract is still unknown, but the Cavaliers could use Smith and his scoring. During last year’s playoffs, Smith was instrumental to the team’s road to the Finals. During the playoffs, Smith averaged 12.8 points for the Cavs. He played mostly off the bench, but started in four games. Smith was also suspended for two games after he hit Celtics forward Jow Crowder. In another move to bolster their bench, the Cavs also signed center Sasha Kaun. He will join Timofey Mozgov, Tristan Thompson, Kevin Love and Anderson Varejao as big men on the Cavs roster. Kaun signed a two-year contract with the Cavs, with financial terms still unannounced. The center was part of the Russian National team that was coached by David Blatt.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are coming off as the Eastern Conference Champions and are looking to get there 1st ever NBA Championship after falling short against the Golden State Warriors which had a lot to do with missing guys like Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, and Anderson Varejao. So far the Cavs have resigned LeBron James, Kevin Love, Iman Shumpert, Matthew Dellavedova, and have brought back and signed veteran Mo Williams who played here as LeBron James's sidekick from 2008-2011. The Cavs are also working on trying to resign J.R, Smith. Lebron James said at the premiere of the romantic comedy “Trainwreck” at his hometown Akron that he wants to see more talent on the Cavs roster this season. After signing a two year deal worth $23 million per year, with an option for the second year, James said that the Cavs “do not want to return the same team”. So far, the Cleveland Cavaliers have managed to resign their own free agents, and add Mo Williams as well. Williams was James running partner from 2008 to 2010. One trade chip the Cavs have at their disposal is Brendan Haywood, or his expiring contract. Haywood contract is not guaranteed, and any team that trades for him, can waive him and save $10 million in the process. The Cavs have been actively shopping his contract since the end of last season, and they hope to get something in return before the Haywood’s contract becomes guaranteed.

It was one year ago today that Cleveland sports changed again. LeBron James, for the second time, was going to be playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers. The four-time MVP, who brought the Cavs back from irrelevancy to the brink of an NBA championship this season before falling to the Warriors, signed his two-year, $47 million deal on Friday. The commitment allows him to maintain financial flexibility and keeps pressure on Cleveland's front office to keep building.
