The present members of the Boston is composed of Tom Scholz as the founding member who plays acoustic, lead, rhythm and even bass guitars, percussion, keyboards, piano, and even organ; Gary Pihl who also plays guitar; Kimberly Dahme who plays as the bass, harmony and back-up vocals and guitar; and Jeff Neal who plays the drums. In addition, the Boston band was originally composed of Tom Scholz as the founding member, Jim Masdea as the drummer, Brad Delp as the lead and harmony vocalist as well as rhythm guitarist, Barry goudreau as the guitarist, Sib Hashian as the drummer, Fran Sheehan as the bassist, Doug Huffman as the drummer, David Sikes as the bassist, Fran Cosmo as the vocalist and guitarist, Curly Smith as the drummer, and Anthony Cosmo as the vocalist and guitarist.

Boston began in 1969 as an American Rock band from Boston, Massachusetts. However the most successful period of the band started in the 1970s as well as 1980s. Boston was formed by Tom Scholz as he made a series of tape recordings with guitarist Barry Goudreau and drummer Jim Masdea in Tom’s home studio. The trio came up with the song, More than a Feeling. The origin of Boston’s first album were created in these early demo sessions also with songs like Foreplay/Long Time, Hitch a Ride, Peace of Mind and Rock & Roll Band. After making what Tom thought was a symphony of rock with the instruments, it was Brad’s turn with the tape. Systematically he would overdub a one man vocal orchestra that relegated Tom’s first chair musical efforts to the second row. It was clear that Brad’s voice brought the music to life as Tom listened from the back seat. This was the demo and succeeding album that turned the disco crazed music industry on its head and broke all the known rules for thriving in the world of rock n’ roll.

Producer John Boylan made Tom an offer by recording the multi-track masters by himself, while he decoys the company recording a couple of Brad’s songs in Los Angeles with Barry, Fran and Sib. Tom joined him in LA for vocal overdubs and mixing. After arranging Sib and Jim’s drum tracks, Tom settled in for the lengthy ordeal of reproducing a band’s worth of bass, guitar, and organ performances on the new, almost alike recording. Barry joined Tom to play the excellent lead electric guitar on songs such as Longtime and Fran to play the bass track for Foreplay. In LA, Brad’s Let Me Take You Home was recorded in it’s whole, and is the only song to exemplify performances of all five musicians to eventually ended up on stage for the first ever Boston concert by year 1976. And it was the beginning of the long and changing journey of the band, Boston.
