All witches are not wicked. What, you don’t believe us? Go watch the Wicked Musical at Pantages Theater and you will see witches who are all sugar and spice and very nice.
Elphaba is a sweet little witch who is misunderstood by all. She has a beautiful friend, Glinda, who keeps her company. The Wicked musical is based on the book “Wicked: the Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West” by Gregory Maguire. The book was also made into a movie in 1939 titled “The Wonderful Wizard of the Oz.”
Here is the storyline of Wicked. It is a story about two witches – Elphaba and Glinda. Elphaba is green in color, and she desperately tries to blend in with other girls with a normal skin tone. Elphaba is always the odd one out and she eventually becomes the wicked witch of the west. Glinda is the good witch of the north. The musical tells the tale of their unlikely friendship.
The two witches meet at the Shiz University, they are roommates. Their personalities do not complement each other and there are many fights and tantrums, completely different points of view and even rivalry for love. They do not see eye to eye on the Wizard’s governance and the uncertainties in their relationship lead to Elphaba being disgraced in public.
There are many twists and turns in their friendship, they go through many trials and tribulations, but as in all fairy tales, all ends well and they live happily ever after.
The musical has the “The Wizard of Oz” as its back story. It makes several references to events that were depicted in the film, so if you loved the Wizard of Oz, you will love Wicked as well.
The musical is ultimately about the triumph of good over evil. It can be enjoyed by the whole family. So buy your Wicked musical at Pantages Theater tickets today for a great evening with the whole family.
