While several NBA teams had a leisurely Christmas holiday, the Los Angeles Clippers had the unenviable task of playing four games in six days, with three of the four games against teams either ranked first or second in their respective conferences. The fourth team, the San Antonio Spurs, happened to be the defending NBA champions. The Clippers lost three of four during the week, culminating with a tough loss on Saturday night at STAPLES Center versus the east leading Toronto Raptors.

Clippers Week Recap:
Monday night the Clippers traveled to San Antonio to face the defending NBA champion Spurs. San Antonio has been struggling of late due to a myriad of injuries and had lost four straight entering the home matchup with Los Angeles. The Spurs welcomed star point guard Tony Parker back from a five game absence. Parker scored 26 points, igniting the Spurs to a 125-118 victory. Chris Paul led the Clippers with 25 points and nine assists, with Blake Griffin chipping in 22 and JJ Redick 21. After the tough loss in San Antonio, the NBA schedule-makers didn’t do the Clippers any favours. Los Angeles had to travel to Atlanta to face a tough Atlanta Hawks team on the second night of a road back to back. The Clippers were unable to hold onto a thirteen-point lead, losing 107-104 when the Hawks outscored them by five points in the fourth quarter. Blake Griffin had 21 points and 11 rebounds, with Chris Paul chipping in 19 points. The Clippers started strong, including a 17-0 run in the second quarter, but just couldn’t hold on, with Atlanta securing the victory late. After the loss in Atlanta the Clippers returned home to STAPLES Center to host the west leading Golden State Warriors on Christmas night. The Clippers put together an impressive performance, winning 100-86. Jamal Crawford took over in the fourth period, scoring 12 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter to propel the Clippers to victory. The Clippers momentum didn’t last as they lost a tough one Saturday night to the Toronto Raptors, who had the benefit of largely having the Christmas week off. The Raptors outscored the Clippers by ten in the fourth quarter, sealing the victory behind a big game from point guard Kyle Lowry.
Up Next for the Clippers: After their toughest stretch of the season the Clippers continue their seven-game homestand with an easier stretch of games as they host two non-playoff contenders in the New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers. Both teams are well out of contention, with Philadelphia and New York currently featuring the two worst records in the NBA. The three-game stretch should be a good opportunity for the Clippers to get another win streak going and build some momentum for the following week when they host the Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks.
Where They Stand: With a 20-11 record the Clippers are in sixth place in the Western Conference.
