The Los Angeles Lakers closed the month of November with a victory against the Detroit Pistons. The team is set to enter December after starting 9-8 this season, which is not what every Lakers fans wanted, but it certainly could have been worse.
The Lakers start December with a home game against the Portland Trail Blazers, who are surprisingly surging this season. The game takes place at the Staples on Sunday, December 1. Portland currently holds a 13-3 record and also the second seed in the West.
The next home game for the Lakers is schedule one week after, on Sunday, December 8, when LA will host the Toronto Raptors. By then, there are many chances the Lakers will have their superstar leader, Kobe Bryant, back. As Bryant said, he is currently a few weeks away from returning to action.
Two days later, the Lakers will face the Phoenix Suns. The Suns are on a solid course this season, currently ranking eighth in the West, although they weren’t expected to perform that well. Hopefully, Steve Nash will be back from his nerve root irritation to face his former team by then.
After a four-game road trip the Lakers return to the City of Angels to take on Kevin Love and the Minnesota Timberwolves. The game takes place on December 20 inside the Staples Center and it should be a tough one for Mike D’Antoni’s team. The duo of Love and Kevin Martin has proven out to be deadly for the Wolves, who have found the additional scoring option they have been looking for several seasons now.
The next home game for the Lakers comes on Christmas Day. LeBron James and Co. come to LA to play a classic rivalry game against Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers. The game is scheduled for 5.00 pm and it will be nationally televised.
On Sunday, December 29 the Lakers play their second to last game for this year against the Philadelphia 76ers. Philly started hot this season but lost several games since. Still, this should be a very interesting game for the home crown, as they will have the chance to watch one of the best rookies this season, Michael Carter-Williams taking on the Lakers’ defense.
The Milwaukee Bucks are the last opponent for 2013 for the Lakers. The game will take place on December 31 and it should be an easy one for the Lakers. The Bucks currently rank last in the Eastern Conference with a 2-13 record.
In general, we should expect more from the Lakers in the month of December, as the Black Mamba will be back to help the team win more games.
