This has been a long time coming!
Waaaay back in 2009, Queen guitarist Brian May said that the band was toying around with the idea of bringing on Adam Lambert as their permanent frontman for Queens upcoming 2012 concert tour.

Now, Adam has officially confirmed that he’ll be (drum roll) joining Queen as their frontman for the band’s summer tour! Here’s what he had to say about it:
“The intention is to pay tribute to Freddie and the band by singing some f–king great songs. It’s to keep the music alive for the fans and give it an energy that Freddie would have been proud of.”
And here’s Adam on backlash he’s received from fans who say that he can’t replace Freddie Mercury:
“After the EMAs, I heard faint little slithers of a backlash from people saying: ‘You can’t replace Freddie Mercury.’ But I already knew that.”
“There’s no intention in my mind of replacing Freddie. That’s impossible. The way I’m choosing to view it is that it’s a great honour and one I’m in no way going to shirk…Being asked to front Queen is the best thing that can possibly happen.”
That’s certainly the way to look at it, and we’re sure at least SOME Queen fans will appreciate what he’s saying…although it’s inevitable that there will still be plenty of haters!
A representative for Hollywood Records tells Rolling Stone, “The Daily Star item only mentions that Adam may perform with Queen at Sonisphere – This is not confirmed. Nothing has been signed. However, if this were to happen, Queen would be returning to the setting of their final concert with Freddie Mercury, which took place in 1986.”
Band members Brian May and Roger Taylor previously hit the stage with Adam while he was competing on American Idol. Most recently, they performed together at the MTV EMAs in Belfast in November.
The last time Queen toured they were lead by lead singer Paul Rodgers and played at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. It is rumored that Queen with Adam Lambert will be playing the Hollywood Bowl this time around as well. You can sign up now to receive Queen Hollywood Bowl Tickets information and onsale dates.
