Sound of Musical – Beloved Musical of the World

Sound of Music of 1959 is one of the most favorite musicals of all time for many music lovers. The musical is the last collaboration between Hammerstein and Rodgers and becomes the best-loved musical in the world. Sound of Music has won 8 Tony awards including the best musical and score.

The musical is a story about a postulant whose high spirits make her unsuitable for convent life. She is therefore dispatched to be governess for the seven kids of a naval Captain. The Captain is widowed. Predictably, the governess’s rapport with his children, her generosity, and honesty enrapture him and they fall in love. The Captain marries the governess and goes away on honeymoon.

When they return, they find that the Nazis have invaded Austria and that the Captain’s immediate service is required in the navy. The family narrowly escapes on the eve of the Second World War, over to the mountains of Switzerland. The escape is finely portrayed and is one of the most inspirational and spectacular finales that have ever been presented in theatre.
