The fortunes have been shifting at least for some teams, from the games that we have seen so far. A big surprise has been the comeback of teams like Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills. The super powers of the League – the New York Jets and the Philadelphia Eagles – are finding it hard to stay on top. The changes in the football landscape have been so drastic that the earlier predictions no longer hold true.
Even New England Patriots who began the season with a loss is proving to be a tough challenge for other teams. With Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez in the team, such a strong comeback was perhaps only to be expected. Also flying high as possible Super Bowl contenders are the Baltimore Ravens, with Joe Flacco and Ray Rice.
The Houston Texans was the next surprise this season when they became the AFC South champion. Matt Schaub, Andre Johnson, Arian Foster and Wade Philips continue to give nightmares to coaches and players alike.
With new and refreshing defense moves from Philip Rivers, the San Diego Chargers are also making waves. However it is hard times ahead for the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets. They have to be satisfied being the wild card entries this season. It must be hard for them because these were the two teams that met in the conference championship game last season.
Tony Romo and Bob Ryan will prove lucky for the Dallas Cowboys with the strong defense that they bring to the team. The Green Bay Packers are also a surprise package this season.
Enjoy the NFL. It has been all about separating the boys from the men and it is just getting started!
