Lakers & Cavaliers Cap Off Clippers Top Tickets Of The Week

With three games versus lesser competition, the Los Angeles Clippers took care of business, winning all three to keep pace with the leaders in the Western Conference. The Clippers have four games remaining on their season-long seven-game homestand, a prime opportunity to continue their climb to the top of the standings in the conference.

Week Recap: Monday night the Clippers hosted the NBA Utah Jazz at STAPLES Center, winning 101-97 and defeating the Jazz for the 12th consecutive game. The Clippers played an uneven game but made the big plays down the stretch to earn the victory with Blake Griffin leading the way with 24 points. Chris Paul added 20 points and eight assists. Even though the Clippers never led by more than five points, they never trailed in the fourth quarter. DeAndre Jordan added 19 rebounds to pace the Clippers on the inside. After a day off on Tuesday, the Clippers hosted the struggling New York Knicks on New Year’s Eve. The Knicks, in their first year with Phil Jackson as the General Manager, currently have the worst record in the Eastern Conference. The Clippers handed the Knicks their 9th consecutive loss with a big third quarter effort. JJ Redick had 20 points to the lead the Clippers with both DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin adding double doubles. Jamal Crawford had 13 points for the Clippers, including three three-point shots to pass Peja Stojakovic for 9th place on the all-time NBA list. The Clippers wrapped up the week with a blowout victory on Saturday night over the Philadelphia 76ers. The Clippers blew out the hapless Sixers 127-91 behind a dominating second half performance. Chris Paul had 24 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds in the victory with JJ Redick chipping in 17 points and Blake Griffin 15 points. The Clippers were able to rest their starters the entire fourth quarter due to their substantial lead, giving Paul and Griffin needed rest for the big Monday night matchup with the Atlanta Hawks.

The Clippers kicked off one of the four big home games this coming week, capping off a seven-game homestand. They hosted the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night. The Hawks are the biggest surprise of this year’s NBA season, leading the Eastern Conference with a 25-8 record. Although Blake Griffin scored 26 points and ten rebounds the rest off the offence didn’t show up as Chris Paul only scored 10 points, and DeAndre Jordan scored 15 with 16 rebounds the Clipper fell to the Hawks 98-107.

Up Next for the Clippers: Following an off day today the Clippers host the Lakers on Wednesday night, followed by a big Saturday afternoon home game versus the Dallas Mavericks. Dallas added elite point guard Rajon Rondo to the roster via trade two weeks ago. The presence of Rondo might make the Mavericks a legitimate title contender. The Clippers wrap up the week when they host the Miami Heat on Sunday afternoon.

Where They Stand: With a 23-12 record, the Clippers are in sixth place in the Western Conference.
