Do you know how many Stanley Cups the Kings have won?

The Los Angeles Kings entered into the NHL during 1967 – 68 regular season and made it the NHL quarter-finals in their first year as a professional hockey franchise. It wasn’t until the 1992 – 93 NHL season the Los Angeles Kings made their first appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals.

Under Coach Barry Melrose the Kings finished the season 39 – 35 with 88 points good enough for 3rd in the NHL Smythe Division. In the Division Semi-Finals, they were able to defeat the Calgary Flames four games to two.

The Kings faced the Vancouver Canucks during the Division Finals where they won the series four games to two as well. For the LA Kings Western Conference Finals, they faced a talented Toronto Maple Leafs led by Dave Andrechuk and were able to hold them off win a game seven to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals against the Montreal Canadiens.

The NHL Adams Division Canadiens were able to make easy work of Los Angeles and defeat them four games to one.

LA Kings Win Stanley Cup 2011-2012

Kings-Devils Stanley CupThe Los Angeles Kings wouldn’t see another Stanley Cup Finals until 2011 – 12 NHL season after going through three Coaches during the regular season including Terry Murray, John Steven and finally Coach Darryl Sutter was able to take them to the promised land.

The Kings finished 40- 27 – 15 good enough for 3rd place in the Pacific Division. Los Angeles defeated the Vancouver Canucks in the Conference Quater-Finals four games to one and then went on to beat the St. Louis Blues in the Western Conference Semi-Finals. During the Western Conference Finals, the Kings defeated the Phoenix Coyotes in five games winning four games to one.

In the Stanley Cup Finals, the Kings faced a heavily favored New Jersey Devils and were able to upset New Jersey by a final four games to two to win their first Stanley Cup Finals.

LA Kings Win Stanley Cup 2013-2014

Los Angels Kings Stanley CupJust two years later in the 2013 – 14 NHL season the Los Angeles Kings were able to return for their third appearance in the Stanly Cup Finals. The 46 – 28 – 10 Los Angeles Kings faced off against the San Jose Sharks in the first round, and an epic seven-game series ensued. LA was able to win game seven moving them on to the Second Round where they faced their rivals the Anaheim Ducks.

The series lasted seven games with both teams winning on their home ice, the Kings at the Staples Center and the Ducks at the Honda Center. In the end, the Kings were able to move on to the Western Conference Finals after a game seven victory over the Anaheim Ducks. In the Finals, the Los Angeles Kings went head to head against the Chicago Blackhawks who had won the Stanley Cup the previous season.

It once again took the Los Angeles Kings a history seventh game to defeat the Chicago Blackhawks and move on to their third Stanely Cup appearance where they met Henrik Lundqvist and the New York Rangers. After three seven-game series the Los Angeles Kings were able to win their second Stanley Cup in just five games as they beat the Rangers four games to one to win their second Cup.

The Los Angeles Kings have won two Stanley Cups and made twenty-nine NHL Playoff Appearances since 1967 – 68.
