TEAM USAThe 2014 World Cup has already begun and we have already got a taste of which teams will do well and which ones will not. Brazil, Spain, England and Argentina entered the cup as the favorites for the title. Team USA is considered as underdog and it is in the “group of death”, together with Germany, Portugal and Ghana. It will be extremely difficult if not impossible for Team USA to get the ticket to the next round, as Portugal and Germany are two of the powerhouses of the competition and they have some of the best soccer players of the world in their arsenal. So, how far can Team USA really go? And how can it increase its chances to do better?
Well, first of all, we are talking about a team with several young players. That gives the opportunity to Team USA to stay aggressive and play with lots of energy. However, the downside is that most players lack of experience, especially in international events of that size. Even the older members of the team don’t have much experience of competitions of that level, they have never player against some of the best players of the world, like Christiano Ronaldo, who however might not be able to play due to a knee injury.
TEAM USAOf course, one of the biggest surprises we saw from Jurgen Klinsmann this summer was his decision to leave Landon Donovan out of the team. Donovan is by far the best US soccer player we’ve seen in the history of the Team USA and now, Klinsmann will have to find other solutions to help Team USA win. The Head Coach of the team expects much from Michael Bradley, a 26 – year old midfielder who is expected to create players and advance the ball from defense to offense. Team USA will definitely need Bradley’s creativity but also his passing skills, as it will try to attack its opponents from close range. Climp Dempsey is another key player for Jurgen Klinsmann. The veteran forward has been one of the most productive players of the team as of lately and he will need to provide his finishing skills to the team in order for it to be able to advance to the next round.
If Team USA manages to achieve a victory against Ghana, that will be a great success for them. Against Portugal and Germany it will be extremely difficult for USA to even get a draw. Both teams are contending for the cup and they are expected to be focused on their target. Of course, if Team USA somehow manages to advance to the next round, that can be considered as a triumph.
