Greg Oden eyeing a return in the NBA

Greg Oden, the former first overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft is reportedly under the scope of eight NBA teams. The seven-footer center has undergone severe knee injuries and five surgeries since he stepped foot in the NBA. That’s why his career has been literally doomed. He was projected to be a devastating center, a strong force close to the paint. Had he managed to stay healthy he would have been that type of a player.

However, he is still young, just 25 years old and several teams see him as a prospect. Among-st the organizations that show interest in acquiring him are the Dallas Mavericks, the San Antonio Spurs, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Memphis Grizzlies and the defending champions Miami Heat.

Greg Oden could be signed for as low as a veteran minimum, especially if he ends up joining a contender. That’s exactly what strong teams looked tempted to, a cheap, young seven-footer that will be a high-risk and high-reward situation.

His last appearance came during the 2009-2010 season. But just recently, Deshaun Thomas, his former Ohio State teammate said that Greg Oden looks to be in a very good shape, running, lifting weights and getting ready for his comeback.

Whilst no team is really rushing to ink Oden, due to the major trades and changes the teams are facing this off-season, he is projected to eventually find a spot in a roster, even as the third center of the team.
