The Sugar Bowl has been played annually since January 1, 1935, and held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. The annual payout per team as of 2014 is seventeen million dollars. The winner of the Sugar Bowl this year will meet the winner of the 2018 Rose Bowl in the January 8th, 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship.

January 27 will be the NHL All-Star Skills Competition. On January 28, NHL All-Star Game will be held at Amalie Arena home ice of the Tampa Bay Lightning in Tampa, Florida. The NHL All Star game will feature a 3-on-3 tournament format. Teams representing all four divisions Atlantic, Metropolitan, Central, and Pacific) will play a single-elimination tournament.

February 18, 2018 – Daytona 500

Held annually at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida the Daytona 500 is a 500-mile long Nascar Cup Series motor race. The Daytona 500 carries the largest purse of more than $18 million dollars. The race is regarded as the most important and prestigious race on the 2018 NASCAR race calendar.

February 18, 2018 – NBA All-Star Game

Sport: Professional Basketball

The 67th NBA All Star Game will take place on February 18, 2017, at the Los Angeles Staples Center. The game features the East NBA players vs. the West NBA Players. The roosters are selected via a voting process by which fans make up 50%, players 25% and 25% by the media. Since 1951 the Eastern Conference has won 37 times, while the Western Conference has won 29 times.

This year will mark the 82nd edition of the Master Tournament on April 5 – 8 2018 at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. The Masters is the first of golf’s four major championships and the most celebrated. There is an $11 million purse up for grabs with the winner of the green jacket receiving $1.98 million. There is a total of eighteen holes played, 7435 yards and the Augusta National Golf Club is a par 72.

April 7, 2018, End of the NHL Season – Start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs

The 2017 NHL regular season ends on April 7, 2018, and thus begins the Stanley Cup Playoffs a few days afterward. The playoffs consist of four best of seven games rounds. The two final teams will meet in early June for the Stanley Cup Finals. The home ice is determined by the NHL team with the best record.

This year will mark the 83rd annual NFL Draft. The draft takes place over three days, and the 2018 location has yet to be announced. There are seven rounds of the 2018 NFL Draft with 256 total selections. The Cleveland Browns will have the most selections with twelve while the New England Patriots will have the fewest selections with five.

May 5, 2018 – Kentucky Derby

Sport: Horse Racing

Inaugurated in 1875, the Kentucky Derby is a Thoroughbred horse race that takes place annually at Churchill Downs Louisville, Kentucky. Nick named the “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports.” The Kentucky Derby is the first leg of the Tripple Crown. The distance of the race is 1 1/4 miles, and the surface is dirt. The Kentucky Derby purse for the winner is $1,425,000.

May 19, 2018 – Preakness Stakes

Inaugurated in 1873, the Preakness Stakes is a flat thoroughbred horse race held at Pimlico Race Course Baltimore, Maryland. Nicknamed “The Second Jewel of the Triple Crown.” The Preakness Stakes run over 1 3/16 miles, or 9.5 furlongs and is the second race of the Tripple Crown. The winning purse is $1,500.000.

July 2 – 15, 2018 – Wimbledon Championships

Sport: Tennis

The actual name is The Championships, Wimbledon, but more commonly known simply as Wimbledon is the oldest professional tennis tournament in the world. Founded in 1877, Wimbledon takes place at The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London, England. The event features Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Doubles and is one of four Grand Slam tennis tournaments. The total prize money is £31,600,000 with both Gentlemen’s and Women’s singles champions each receiving £2.2 million.

July 10, 2018 – Major League Baseball All-Star Game

Sport: Baseball

This year will mark the 89th Major League Baseball All-Star Game the game and take place at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. The MLB All-Star game showcases the top vote getters from the American and National League teams. Before the July 10th MLB, All Star game is the July 9th Home Run Derby as well as the All-Star Futures Game comprised of minor league baseball prospects.

The US Open is one of the four Tennis Grand Slam events held annually. The total prize money for the US Open Championships is $46,300,000.

September 1 – December 8, 2018 – NCAA Division I FBS football season

Sport: College Football

Founded in 1978, the formally known as Division 1-A is the top level of college football athletics. The FBS is comprised of 129 teams all vying for the College Football National Championship Trophy. There are ten conferences and one hundred and thirty schools. The season begins with the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game and ends with the College Football Playoff National Championship.
