Even though Al Green has a church all his own in Memphis, he knows that fans and followers around the country are overjoyed with his decision to tour around to preach and spread his soul tunes and jams with all audiences, and touch each and every member in the crowd.

Born and raised in Arkansas , Al Green got his musical start as a young boy in the travelling quartet who went by the name the Greene Brothers. It wasn't until Al Green started his solo career that he made the decision to drop the last letter from his famous last name. The Greene Brothers travelled and wowed audiences everywhere, continuing well after the family move to Michigan . It was a little while later when Al Green's father kicked him out of the group because he was listening to the works of Jackie Wilson.

This was fortunately the push that the young and talented Al Green needed to start his own group with Curtis Rogers and Palmer James in his high school years. They went on to start an independent label, Hot Line Music Journal, and Al Greene & the Soul Mates first release of "Back Up Train" reached chart toping status, and Al Green's popularity was just beginning to rise to the level it would soon become.

A while later, and through much personal setback and unfortunate events, it all brought Al Green closer to his love and respect for God. It was then in 1976 when he became the ordained pastor of the Full Gospel Tabernacle of South Memphis as well as continuing to go forth with his love of R&B. Unfortunately, critics were not pleased with the Reverend Al Green, and after an accident, Al Green went on to focus only on spreading his gospel word.

It was a few years after solely working on gospel that Al Green got back into his love of R&B, and with his duet with Annie Lennox, "Put A Little Love In Your Heart," and many others to come, audiences everywhere were rejoicing that Al Green had gotten back into his music shoes and was continuing to inspire soulful gospel music lovers and fans everywhere.

Throughout the years Al Green has never stopped preaching and touching peoples' lives in numerous different ways, from his gospel music, to his word, and also in his writing through his book Take Me to the River, which was released in 2000. It was in 2004 that Al Green was honored with his induction into the Gospel Music Association's Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

There is no question about it, Reverend Al Green has been blessed in many ways by the man above, and the opportunity to experience him live in concert doesn't come along too often, so stay updated with all ticket sales and location information as it becomes available for your opportunity to experience and be truly blessed by the God-sent work and talent of the legendary Al Green.
