Sister Act:
Sister Act is the story of a Reno lounge singer who has to be placed under protective custody because her life is threatened by a mobster. The lounge singer, Deloris, was an impish little thing even as a little girl, constantly chastised by the nuns at her elementary Catholic school for her clever retorts and sarcastic answers. Deloris, when she grows up, gets involved with a much married mobster, Vince. Deloris does not know of his criminal activities because he keeps her out of his so called business activities. She accidentally walks into Vince and a man who lies dead on the floor, shot by her lover. Deloris flees for her life and Vince's thugs chase her. She manages to get to the police station and the Lieutenant suggests that she testify against Vince. To protect Deloris' life till the trial, she is hidden away in a Roman Catholic convent where none of the nuns know her real identity except for the Reverend Mother.
Deloris, being the lounge singer that she is, is appalled by the lackluster performance of the church choir that is attached to the convent. Sister Mary Clarence, or Deloris in a nun's habit, sets about making some changes to the choir. The changes are well received by the community and attract many youngsters to the church. The gospel and Rock n Roll work well and the church becomes famous.
