It then moved from the Globe to Broadway with book and lyrics by Timothy Mason, the original score by Mel Marvin. The Broadway show was directed by Matt August and created by 3-time Tony Award-winning director Jack O'Brien. On November 8, 2006, the Broadway production debuted at the Hilton Theatre for the Christmas season and closed on January 7, 2007. What made this production unique was the fact that it was the first Broadway musical to offer an astounding 12 performances a week. In the first week alone, of December 2006, the musical topped the Broadway Box office and put an end to Wicked's top-grossing streak that had lasted an incredible 100 weeks.
