Prepare the car for takeoff. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the stage production is set to hit a host of theater / Broadway venues nationwide in summer of 2009.

This is the touring version of the Broadway show, which is based on the well-known 1968 movie starring Dick Van Dyke as Caractacus Potts.

“Let's face it,” says Steve Wilson, who plays Caractacus Potts in the play. “People are coming to see the movie on the stage. If we tinker with that, people will be disappointed and rightfully so.”

Potts, an eccentric and absent-minded inventor, salvages an old broken-down race car, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, which becomes something magical, transforming itself and taking Potts and his family on a series of adventures.
