Annie:
One of the most successful musical-comedy film of all time is Disney's Annie. It is based on the Little Orphan Annie 1924 comic strip by Harold Gray. Annie (played by Alicia Morton), a 10-year-old orphan, was left at a girls' orphanage when she was a baby with a locket shaped like a heart with a key hole and a note from her parents saying they will come back for her. The orphanage is run by the tyrannical Miss Hannigan (played by Kathy Bates). Annie tries to escape to find her parents, but is caught by Miss Hannigan. However, as billionaire Oliver Warbucks (played by Victor Garber) decides to take in an orphan for Christmas, his assistant, Grace Farrell (played by Audra McDonald), chooses Annie. Moreover, Annie is brought to her wealthy estate and bathes in a grand life.
Warbucks, which is at first uncomfortable with Annie, eventually charmed by her. In fact, he wanted to adopt her but Annie is eager to find her parents. Miss Hannigan, her crooked brother Rooster (played by Alan Cumming), and his dimwitted girlfriend Lily St. Regis (played by Kristin Chenoweth) made up a scheme to get the reward by posing as Annie's parents. As President Roosevelt arrives with the proof that Annie's parents had died several years earlier, Lily and Rooster are arrested, Hannigan is sent to an asylum having gone insane. On the other hand, Warbucks and his assistant Grace become engaged, and the little orphan Annie gets to live a happy life ever after with her new parents Grace and Oliver.
