As Southern California's premier entertainment and sports venue, the Arrowhead Pond hosts a variety of first-class events each year including concerts, sporting events and family shows. The 650,000-square-foot arena is home to the NHL Mighty Ducks of Anaheim as well as the prestigious John R. Wooden Classic and Fight Night at the Pond. Annual events include the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, the World Wrestling Entertainment and the Harlem Globetrotters.

new site for major concerts is the Anaheim Arena,
otherwise known as the Arrowhead Pond. Located just two miles east
of Disneyland< , and right across from
Anaheim Stadium and
the new Tinseltown Studios , its
principal tenant is Disney's new ice hockey team, the Mighty Ducks.
It's also home for the NBA's Clippers basketball, The arena also plays
host to such varied events as the Ringling Brothers-Barnum & Bailey
Circus, Disney On Ice, rodeos, WWF wrestling, and the Anaheim Splash soccer
team.
But
the cavernous Pond is becoming an increasingly popular spot for concert
performers. Its opening night in 1993 saw a concert from Barry
Manilow, and the stars have just kept
coming ever since then, including Elton
John, Whitney Houston,
Billy Joel, Celine
Dion, Smashing Pumpkins,
No Doubt, R.E.M.,
Tori Amos, Amy
Grant, Bob Dylan / Joni
Mitchell, Janet Jackson,
Eric Clapton, Shania
Twain, AC/DC, Mannheim
Steamroller, Phil Collins,
Neil Diamond, Depeche
Mode, Yanni,
Clint Black, George
Straight, Traffic, LL Cool J,

(Many of these same performers go on to play the
Forum or Staples
Center a few days later.).
Ricky Martin
appeared in concert at the Arrowhead Pond on July 20, 2000; Tim
McGraw & Faith
Hill, and Brooks
& Dunn soon after.
In February 1999, the Pond
was the scene of the Rolling Stones
"No Security" concert (with the
best tickets going for $150.) The Stones' opening act was Bryan Adams.
During
his 1998 concert at the Arrowhead Pond, Elton John
was joined on stage by crazyman Jim
Carrey, who wore a sequined, red leather
jacket, and joined Elton in a duet of "Rocket Man," which
included Carry playing Elton's piano with his head. The audience at that
concert included a number of Hollywood celebs, such as Hugh Grant,
Elizabeth Hurley, and
Sharon Stone.
And speaking of stars showing up to see stars, in
April of 1999, at the Andrea Bocelli
concert, Elizabeth Taylor was seated
in the front row.
So, if you get a yen to see
a concert while you're in Disney country, this might be right up your alley.

there:
From Disneyland, simply drive two miles east on Katella Avenue,
past Anaheim Stadium, to just beyond the Santa Ana Freeway (at Douglas
Way), and the Arrowhead Pond will be on your left (north) side.

About
the Arrowhead Pond
The Arrowhead Pond is one of the most comfortable
arenas of the NHL. With its Wayne Gretzkey Statue at
the entrance, its purple seats, and its nice exterior
design makes it a very fan friendly arena. Prior to
playing at the Arrowhead Pond the Kings
played at the Great Western Forum, seating 16.005.
They moved to the brand-new Arrowhead Pond prior to
the 1999/2000 season.
The Arrowhead Pond is right downtown
, which is very handy (unlike some arenas).
It has its
own team store (like every other arena). It’s
got its own bar, restaurant outside of arena. The bar/
restaurant is called the Fox Sports Sky Box, it’s
a sports bar ( if you prefer sports bars over others).
The bar and restaurant is open most of the day, before
and after game time. It’s not as pricy as inside
where it costs $8 dollars for a pint of beer, popcorn
etc... It’s got very nice architectural design;
with glass at the front of the building looking out
to downtown , little balconies sticking
out of
You get a fairly good view from anywhere in the arena.
Although it does have 3 sections of luxury suites between
the two levels, unless a sell out, the space makes
you feel separated from the people below
The
upper concourse is very steep and there is no railing
to protect you from falling two rows. The lower
concourse is very wide and spacious which makes it
easy to get around. The upper concourse is still spacious,
but not as spacious as the lower concourse. There is
tons of parking around Arrowhead Pond . The convention
center is right next door, so if there is a convention
you want to see you can go there as well. Then just
walk right over to Arrowhead Pond.
