Kelly Brianne Clarkson the 20 year old girl from Texas performed live every week for 10 weeks to an audience of 25 million on one of America’s most successful TV shows. Kelly became a household name when her soulful voice captured the hearts & minds of millions when she was voted the American Idol in September of 2002. At 13 years old, Kelly was a late bloomer by choral standards, Kelly was singing to herself in the corridor at Middle School in Burleson, Texas, when a teacher asked her to consider joining the choir. Her classical training through the choir was, as she describes it, “fundamentals”. Clarkson developed quickly & before long was wooing audiences in state & regional competitions, whilst earning a living as a waitress, pharmacy assistant, movie theatre & even at the zoo!

Having moved to Los Angeles after graduation she began sending out her demo tape trying to get into the music industry. After some bad luck, it was Kelly’s best friend who was determined for her not to give up & suggested she try out for American Idol & the rest as they say is history. Clarkson’s 1rst single smashed straight into #1 in the Billboard charts in its 1rst week & she hasn’t looked back since. With Kelly’s own idols ranging from Bette Midler & Reba McIntyre to Gwen Stefani & Aerosmith, it’s not surprising her voice can turn to such a wide variation of styles. After Idol the single “A Moment Like This/Before Your Love” double A-side was released breaking 2 world records in its 1rst week alone. Clarkson later signed to RCA Records, her debut album Dropped in 2003, & with her 1rst single 'Miss Independent'

Clarkson’s album went Gold after just 3 weeks on the charts & on May 19 th, 2003 Kelly's album was certified Platinum. On August 6 th 2003, Kelly appeared on the Teen Choice Awards & performed her 2 nd single; 'Low' off her debut album. She also won her 1rst award for the 2003 Teen Choice Female Artist. Her 2 nd album, “Breakaway” was released in November of 2004 was shipped Platinum!
