Few bands fused the era of metal/pop like Bon Jovi has. By merging Bruce Springsteen's working/class sensibilities with Def Leppard's loud but tuneful metal, the New Jersey boy based quintet has developed an ingratiatingly melodic & professional variation of classic hard rock - one that applies as much to teenagers as it does to housewives. Bon Jovi’s power ballads have an appropriate commercial sheen, bring about a style that dominated mainstream hard rock & metal for the next decade. The group also made simple performance videos that emphasized lead singer Jon Bon Jovi's good looks, which helped propel the 1986's Slippery When Wet & 1988's New Jersey into multi/platinum status around the world. The 2 records were criticized for being sounding more pop than metal, as well as being targeted toward a younger audience, yet Bon Jovi has managed to change its image in the early '90s, moving away from metal & concentrating more on straightforward arena rock & big ballads. The shift in style worked, & Bon Jovi were the only pop/metal band in American of the 1980s to retain a sizable audience in the 1990s.

The record would go on to produce 2 hit singles as well as earning Oscar & Grammy nominations. The following year, Bon Jovi reunited to record their 5 th album, Keep the Faith, which was released in the fall of 1992. While the album didn't match the blockbuster status of its predecessors, it was nevertheless a big hit. After appearing in the 1996 film Moonlight and Valentino, Jon Bon Jovi released his 1rst official solo album in the summer of 97. 3 years later, Bon Jovi regrouped & released the album Crush. Songs like "It's My Life" & "Thank You for Loving Me" were instant chart hits & Bon Jovi's superstar power soared beyond their wildest dreams. Crush went double platinum in the U.S. & sold over 8 million copies worldwide. Within a year the band returned with their 8 th studio effort, Bounce, which appeared in the fall of 2002. In 2003 Bon Jovi re-recorded many of their classic songs for the release This Left Feels Right & followed it the next year with a DVD companion of the same title.
