Furthermore, the Invitational Ranch Horse Show and Sale presented geldings from 16 stellar ranch horse programs. The 1996 gray gelding from Espuela Cattle Co. of Spur, Texas, was purchased for $34,000 by Vintage Oaks Ranch of Oakville, California. The reserve champion, a 2000 gray gelding, owned by Rounsaville Cattle Co. of Olney, Texas was sold for $19,000 to Star Ranch in Abilene, Texas. The average selling price for the sale was $12,125. On the other hand, B&S Cattle Company from Terrell, Texas, was crowned the new winner of the Best of the West Ranch Rodeo, gaining the Top Horse and the Top Hand honors as well.
The Fort Worth Stock Show was greatly successful. The World’s Original Indoor Rodeo attracted 1,017 cowboys and cowgirls who competed in eight events for $483,025. The champions in each event were consisted of Bareback Bronc Riding by Evan Jayne of Marseille, France; Tie-Down Roping by Cody Ohl of Hico, Texas; Steer Wrestling by Shawn Greenfield of Lakeview, Oregon; Team Roping (tie) by Speed Williams of De Leon, Texas/Dean Tuftin of Prineville, Oregon and Keven Daniel of Altha, Florida/Travis Graves of Jay, Oklahoma; Saddle Bronc by Rusty Allen of Lehi, Utah; Barrel Racing by Brittany Pozzi-Pharr of Victoria, Texas and Bull Riding by McKennon Wimberly of Millsap, Texas.
Moreover, all the livestock sales for the run of the entire Fort Worth Stock Show made $6,205,622 in total revenue resulting in another Stock Show record. Bulls Night Out, presented by Lone Star Ag Credit, showcased the nation’s elite PRCA bull riders providing exciting and enjoyable entertainment. Champions from the two performances were Kanin Asay of Powell, Wyoming in January 16 and Luke Haught of Weatherford, Texas in January 17.
