The San Francisco Giants is one of the outstanding teams of the National League West Division of the Major League Baseball.  The San Francisco Giants has been known for being an aspiring team for their appearances in the World Series since 1905 as New York Giants.  The San Francisco Giants is based in San Francisco California, and is homed in AT&T Park since the season of 2000.  The team colors of the San Francisco Giants are composed of orange and black.

The San Francisco Giants started to play professional baseball in 1883 as New York Gothams.  The team was founded by John B. Day and Jim Mutrie, who were the owners of the New York Metropolitan (Mets nowadays), a team from the American Association.  The San Francisco Giants as Gothams finished their second season with a winning record of 62 wins and 50 losses, and was able to finish the season in 4th place.  The star players of the Metropolitans were moved to join the Gothams in 1885.  Manager Jim Mutrie decided to change the name of the team into Giants after the inspiring 1885 extra-innings victory that led to a season record of 85 wins and 27 losses.  The 1888 season gave the team of Giants more success upon capturing the first place in the National League with a record of 84-47, and gaining their first National League pennant.  In the 1888 Championship, the Giants tickets were sold to a lot of supporters as the Giants would face the St. Louis Brown Stockings.  The team of the Giants defeated the St. Louis Browns by six games to four.  This triumph of the Giants was followed by an 83-43 season record for the 1889 season that led the Giants to their second National League pennant.

The 1904 season led to the third National League pennant title of the Giants.  However, the team refused to play in the World Series due to the consideration of John McGraw and owner John Brush to the new American League as little more than a minor league.  In 1905, with a record of 105-48, the Giants finally played in the World Series and defeated the Philadelphia Athletics by four games to one.  The success of the Giants continued to flourish upon winning their 13 National League pennants in the seasons of 1911, 1912, 1913, 1917, 1921, 1922, 1923, 1924, 1933, 1936, 1937, 1951, and 1954.  The Giants even won the 1921 World Series against the New York Yankees by five games to three; the 1922 World Series against New York Yankees again, sweeping the series in four games; the 1933 World Series defeating the Washington Senators by four games to one; and the 1954 World Series winning over the Cleveland Indians by four games to none.

Due to the condition of the Giants’ stadium, the team began finding a new home and started to consider a move from New York.  In connection to this, owner Horace Stoneham had a negotiation with San Francisco mayor George Christopher and, in the summer of 1957, the New York Giants proclaimed their transfer to San Francisco, California.

The San Francisco Giants had a great start upon moving to San Francisco.  In fact, their first seasons made them gain a consistent winning record, from 1958 to 1971, with 1962 as their best season.  In 1989, the San Francisco Giants tickets earned a huge sale as the team won the National League Championship Series against the Chicago Cubs by four games to one.  The San Francisco Giants made a come back in the World Series in 1989, but unfortunately lost to the Oakland Athletics in four games.  The 1989 World Series was also known as the Earthquake Series, The Battle of the Bay, and Bay Bridge Series.

Furthermore, the San Francisco Giants proved their potentials until the 2002 season upon winning the National League Division Series against the Atlanta Braves by three games to two.  The team was then advanced to the National League Championship Series and defeated the St. Louis Cardinals by four games to one.  On the other hand, the Giants were defeated by the Anaheim Angels in the 2002 World Series.  From 2003 to 2006, the San Francisco Giants reached the top three ranks of the National League West Division, with the 1st place in the 2003 season.

The San Francisco Giants is indeed one of the great teams of the MLB.  The San Francisco Giants tickets continue to sell out, because of the exciting games of the fantastic team.
