Major League Baseball was founded in the year 1903. The Major League Baseball consists of 30 teams, each one playing as the team of their respective City/Area. The team of Arizona Diamondbacks is one of the famous teams in Major League Baseball. It is also one of the newly established teams in the league. The Arizona Diamondbacks started their professional baseball career in the year 1998. They became affiliated in West Division of the National League, together with great baseball teams such as Colorado Rockies (based in Denver, Colorado and homed in Coors Field), Los Angeles Dodgers (based in Los Angeles, California, and homed in Dodger Stadium), San Diego Padres (based in San Diego, California, and homed in PETCO Park), and San Francisco Giants (based in San Francisco, California, and homed in AT&T Park). The team of Arizona Diamondbacks is known for many baseball fans as D-Backs and the Snakes. On March 31, 1998, the team of Arizona Diamondbacks played their first game in the Major League against the strong team of Colorado Rockies. A game filled with baseball action that ended in the final score of 9-2 in favor of Colorado Rockies. The game was held in Chase Field, which was known that time as Bank One Ballpark, or the BOB. Their game was watched by 50,000 spectators. However, in the following years, Arizona Diamondbacks gave their best and became National League Western Division Champions in the year 1999. It was followed by another National League Western Division Champions in 2 consecutive years (2001 & 2002). The team of Arizona Diamondbacks also became the National League Champions in the year 2001 and World Series Champions also in the year 2001. The 2001 season was considered as the best season of the team. The team is led by two of the most dominant pitchers in all of baseball: Randy Johnson (left-handed starting pitcher, 10-time All-Star, World Series MVP Award in the year 2001, American League Cy Young Award winner, National League Cy Young Award winner, holder of an MLB record with 5 consecutive 300-strikeout seasons) and Curt Schilling (right-handed starting pitcher, 2001 World Series MVP Award, Cy Young Award winner). The team Arizona Diamondbacks is also famous as the rival of dominant teams such as Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees, and St. Louis Cardinals. The team is currently homed in the large baseball stadium of Chase Field. The sports stadium was located in Phoenix, Arizona, across the street from the US Airways Center, exactly on 401 East Jefferson Street Phoenix, Arizona 85001. The structure has become a home for Arizona Diamondbacks since March 31, 1998 (the day of its opening). It was owned by Maricopa County, Arizona. The structure was designed by an international architecture, engineering, and construction firm, founded in 1909, the Ellerbe Becket. The structure was said to have cost a stunning 349 million dollars. The stadium was once the home of the Insight Bowl. It was also the host for many sports games held in Phoenix, Arizona, like soccer, football, college basketball games, and for concerts as well. The stadium was made to accommodate 48,569 spectators. The Chase Field is one of the outstanding and most entertaining stadiums in the United States today.
