    Angels 11, Texas 10
    7/15/2008

It was a breathtaking game as the Angels of Anaheim and Texas gave all their best shots in a game that was held at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

During the second inning, Ian Kinsler's single stretched his hitting streak to a career-high 22 games.

In addition, Angels starter John Lackey allowed 15 hits in 5 2-3 innings, exiting with a 10-6 lead in what became a no-decision as the team of Rangers rallied with a four-run seventh against the Angels bullpen, capped by Ramirez's two-run shot. Lackey gave up six runs, struck out five and walked one. The 15 hits allowed tied the Angels' record for a starter set by Paul Hartzell on the 9th of September, 1976, at Kansas City, however, Hartzell was at least able to last 8 2-3 innings.

The Angels of Anaheim built a 10-4 lead in the fifth, but Texas got a run in the inning on Byrd's homer and another run in the sixth on Young's RBI single. Texas pulled within 10-7 in the seventh on Chris Davis' RBI double. Boggs followed with a run-scoring single off Scot Shields, and Ramirez tied it at 10 with a two-run shot, his second of the season. The team of Angels left the bases loaded in the ninth when Rangers closer C.J. Wilson retired Jeff Mathis on a fly ball. Furthermore, Hamilton homered for the second straight game, a day after his two-run ninth-inning shot off Rodriguez lifted the Rangers to a dramatic victory. Los Angeles kept up the pressure in the fifth against Wes Littleton with Kendrick's two-run shot for a 10-4 lead, giving Kendrick 11 major league homers in three big league seasons.

However, Ian Kinsler popped out a bunt attempt, though, and Ramon Vazquez took a called third strike before Michael Young grounded out on a sharply hit ball to give Rodriguez his 36th save in 39 chances. Rodriguez was thankful for the opportunity to redeem himself. "It was nice to win the game," Rodriguez said. Justin Speier allowed one hit in a scoreless 10th.

Marlon Byrd, Josh Hamilton, and Ramirez homered for the Rangers, who had a season-high 20 hits and rallied from a six-run deficit to send the game into extra innings. "Nobody thought we were in that game, but we fought back," Rangers manager Ron Washington said.

Moreover, Maicer Izturis drove in the go-ahead run with a pinch-hit single in the eleventh inning, and the Angels survived a shaky three outs from closer Francisco Rodriguez in an 11-10 win versus the Rangers. Tied at 10, Garret Anderson led off the 11th with a single off Jamey Wright and went to second on pinch-hitter Reggie Willits' sacrifice bunt. Howie Kendrick, who hit his first two homers of the season for the first multihomer game of his three-year career, struck out, before Izturis blooped a run-scoring single into shallow center. "It was a strange game," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. Moreover, Rodriguez, who blew a save Wednesday night made things interesting in the bottom half of the 11th inning. The Angels of Anaheim and the team of Rangers combined for 21 runs, 32 hits and five homers; and yet, despite all those offensive fireworks, on a game held on Thursday night that turned on a couple of softly hit balls in the 11th and final inning.

It was a successful game for the Angels of Anaheim and the team will continue giving their best shot to win their games.
