Los Angeles Angels Information
The Angels' Plan B
In handling a team, changes and adjustments for the players are important things to consider in to be able to come up with a successful roster. As Josh Alper spoke, after acquiring Jon Garland from the White Sox for Orlando Cabrera the Angels of Anaheim find themselves with a surplus of starting pitching, and a hole at shortstop. Even though some believe that prospect Brandon Wood may be ready to take over the shortstop role, he's probably still a year away from contributing on a consistent level, so that means the Angels are still looking for a replacement. Brandon Wood proved his worth especially during the 2005 season as he received several awards for his performance. During that season, he compiled statistics that were considered by some to be the greatest offensive season in the minor leagues.
Moreover, all of their efforts right now are focused on bringing Miguel Cabrera to Angels, and placing him behind Vladimir Guerrero in the lineup. However, even though they’re considered a front runner for Cabrera, there's no guarantee the Angels of Anaheim are going to be able to work out a deal with the Marlins. If they can't, they have a backup plan, which is Miguel Tejada. Miggy began his career with the Athletics and was awarded in 2002 with the American League MVP Award and he was the MVP during the 2005 All-Star Game.
According to an industry source, the teams of Angels and Orioles have not had any significant discussions recently about Miguel Tejada, who is expected to be traded this off-season. But another league source said the Angels of Anaheim would be interested in Tejada to potentially play third base if the club cannot make a trade for Florida Marlins slugger Miguel Cabrera, who won the MLB Rookie of the Year Award during his debut season in 2003 with the Marlins.
On the other hand, the Anaheim team almost traded for Miguel Tejada at the 2006 trade deadline, but balked at the move when the Orioles asked for too much. Apparently the Anaheim team is willing to part with Ervin Santana and Erick Aybar, but there was a third player the Orioles kept asking for that the Angels were no willing to give up. Now that a year and a half has passed, and the team of Orioles has failed in their continued attempts to move Erick Aybar, Ervin Santana and Miguel Tejada and would probably be enough to pry Tejada away from Baltimore.
During off-season, many plans and strategies for the line-up of players are taken into consideration to be able to come up with a great roster. We are not sure right now who will be with the Angels of Anaheim. All we knew is that whatever plans the club makes, it will surely be for the goodness of the team and its players. Let’s find out who will be in the line-up of their roster as we wait for this fantastic team to rock the next season of Major League Baseball.
