Over the past years, the Angels of Anaheim have proven that they are one of the most favorite teams in MLB.

In fact, one of their fans is Riley Breckenridge, the drummer of the popular band, Thrice. The band has sold over one million records and had their last album debut in the Billboard Top 20. Their latest collection of themed EPs, The Alchemy Index, has further enhanced their reputation as one of the premier post-hardcore acts in music today.

Breckenridge was affected as his favorite team, the Angels, made a first-round exit from Major League Baseball's postseason -- this in a year in which the team compiled the best record in the game (100-62) and convinced their fans that they'd be tasting World Series champagne for the first time since 2002.

"I thought all the cards were lined up, with the pitching doing great, grabbing (Mark) Teixeira at the deadline ... it seemed like the offense was clicking," said Breckenridge, "I don't know what it is, but we just can't seem to get out of the first round anymore."

Breckenridge grew up idolizing the team. When he was 5, he began playing tee ball, graduated to Little League, manned second base, shortstop and third for University High School in Irvine. He tore up his knee, needed surgery, and missed half of his senior season. Breckenridge has a great passion in baseball, even if he’s not a player, he appreciates the game itself.

As he transferred to Golden West Junior College and Long Beach State in a search for more playing time, Breckenridge finally made a decision.

"It kind of dawned on me that being 5-foot-9 and having a surgically repaired knee and not being out-of-this-world talented, the cards were stacked against me," he says. "I was better off getting a degree and focusing my time on music."

This leads to the formation of his band called Thrice. In the baseball season, the group may be seen in the seats of the Angel Stadium. Riley Breckenridge even recalls watching the game with his parents at the Yankee Stadium.

"Growing up, my dad would prop me up in front of the TV and watch Angels games. Then he'd go throw me BP in the yard," said Riley Breckenridge.

It was the 2002 season of the Angels that Breckenridge will never forget. The team has made an impact on the life of Riley Breckenridge. And Breckenridge is one of the reasons why the Angels still moves forward because people like him inspires and gives hope to the Angels of Anaheim.
