The team called Pittsburgh Steelers is one among the oldest franchises of the National Football League. The Pittsburgh Steelers is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and homed in Heinz Field, which is situated in Art Rooney Avenue. As an NFL team, the remarkable Steelers is a member of the Northern Division of the American Football Conference. In addition to this, the Pittsburgh Steelers is considered as one of the outstanding teams of the National Football League; a reason why the Pittsburgh Steelers tickets continue to sell out through the years.

Pittsburgh Steelers has a rich history. The team was founded on the 8th of July, year 1933, as an expansion team through Arthur Joseph Rooney, Sr. The team of Steelers during that time was known as the Pittsburgh Pirates. The team by that time was a member of the East Division of the NFL. The first three seasons of the Steelers as Pirates in NFL made them strive as they finished in 5th, 5th and 3rd place, respectively. The Pirates had a good record when they were able to finish in second place of NFL East with six wins and 6 losses during 1936. In 1940, the Pittsburgh Pirates was renamed the Pittsburgh Steelers, to represent the city’s leading steel industry. By 1943, due to World War II, the Steelers had to acquire some other players, because many of their original players were fighting in the war. In this case, the team merged with the team of Philadelphia Eagles, and Steelers was named Phil-Pitt Steagles. In 1944, however, the Steelers merged with the Chicago Cardinals and was named Card-Pitt.

By 1945, the team went back as a single team. In 1967, the team was moved to the Century Division, a division of the NFL that would last until 1970. When the AFL and NFL merged in 1970, the Pittsburgh Steelers joined the American Football Conference Central Division. The first successful season of the Pittsburgh Steelers was the 1972 season, when they were able to finish 1st place in the American Football Conference Central Division, with a record of 11-2. The Steelers defeated the Oakland Raiders by 13-7 during the 1972 Divisional Playoffs. However, the success was stopped by the Miami Dolphins who had beaten the Steelers by 21-17 in the Conference Championship. By 1974, the fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers had no regrets in buying the Pittsburgh Steelers tickets, because the team reached their first Super Bowl achievement with the help of an outstanding draft. The Pittsburgh Steelers had a 10-3-1 record and won the Divisional Playoffs with 32-14 over the Buffalo Bills. With great team work and determination, the Steelers made a come back in the Conference Championship, defeating the Oakland Raiders by 16-10. In the Super Bowl IX, the Steelers defeated the Minnesota Vikings by 16-6. In 1975, the Pittsburgh Steelers once again finished first in the AFC Central, posting a record of 12-4; the Divisional Playoffs made a 28-10 win over the Baltimore Colts. As the Steelers had their second appearance in the Super Bowl, they have beaten the Dallas Cowboys by 21-17 during the Super Bowl X.

The Pittsburgh Steelers, known to be one of the most successful teams in NFL, obtained a record of 14 wins and only 2 losses in the 1978 season. Steelers were first in the AFC Central in the 1978 season and also acquired the 1978 titles of Division Championship, Conference Championship, as well as the Super Bowl XIII Championship. In addition to this, the Steelers continued to be in the top during the 1979 season, when the team gained a record of 12-4. The Pittsburgh Steelers won the Divisional Playoffs against the Miami Dolphins with 34-14. In the 1979 Conference Championship, the Steelers faced the Oilers that made the Steelers win and reach the Super Bowl. In the Super Bowl XIV, the Pittsburgh Steelers won over the Los Angeles Rams with 31-19. The successful team continued their victory, though the 1983 and 1984 seasons only made them 1st in AFC Central with a winning Divisional Playoffs, the team still struggled to win the Super Bowl title.

The team’s first position in the AFC Central was in the seasons of 1992, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997 and 2001. In 2002, the AFC Central was replaced by the AFC North. The Pittsburgh Steelers finished first in their inaugural season in the AFC North. By that time the Steelers won the Wild Card Playoffs against the Cleveland Browns with 36-33, but were defeated by the Tennessee Titans with 34-31 in the Divisional Playoffs. The 2004 season was considered as the best season in the franchise history. The Steelers at that time had an amazing record of 15 wins and only 1 loss. The Steelers reached the first rank of the AFC North and won the Divisional Playoffs with 20-17 against the New York Jets, but unfortunately lost the Conference Championship to the New England Patriots.

During the 2005 season, the Super Bowl title was back to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team finished a record of 11-5 and finished second in the AFC North. The Steelers obtained the Wild Card Playoffs against the Cincinnati Bengals with 31-17. During the Divisional Playoffs, the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Indianapolis Colts with 21-18 during the Divisional Playoffs. As the Steelers reached the Conference Championship, the team won against the Denver Broncos with 34-17. And with a score of 21-10, the Steelers were successful in winning the Super Bowl XL against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Pittsburgh Steelers had an fairytale ending to their 2005 season as they won their last eight games of the year including a 21-10 Super Bowl XL triumph over the Seattle Seahawks to give the franchise their fifth Lombardi trophy, and allow hall of famer to be RB Jerome Bettis to go out a champion in his final appearance in a Pittsburgh Steelers uniform. Coach Bill Cowher was masterful as he motivated his veteran team by letting them know that he believe them and they responded as the Pittsburgh Steelers became the first team in NFL history to win three straight road playoff games and the Super Bowl, as always defense was the calling card for the Pittsburgh Steelers as they ranked fourth in the NFL in total defense and routinely punished opponents with their hard-nosed play which also resulted in 15 forced fumbles.

As pro bowl OLB Joey Porter and all pro SS Troy Polamalu led the voracious unit, on offense second year quarterback Ben Rothlisberger made huge strides and by the end of the year was considered one of the best at his position, but the heart of the offense was the game with bright newcomer Willie Parker and Jerome Bettis running wild through holes opened by perhaps the best offensive in football. All pro nose tackle Casey Hampton was an immovable force in the middle of the line and is the best interior defender in all of football and commands a double-team constantly, DE Aaron Smith is a relentless pass rusher who gives his all every play as does DT Chris Hoke who also can overpower the opposition with his girth and strength, Joey Porter leads a group of linebackers who are quick, aggressive, and physical,, he along with Larry Foote and pro bowler James Farrior makes the line backing group of the Pittsburgh Steelers one of the most feared units in the NFL. Safety Troy Polamalu is the best defensive back in football, he is the epitome of a complete player, he cover wide receivers effortlessly and is a punishing tackler in the run game, CB Ike Taylor and CB Deshea Townsend are good cover men who run and hit all day long, this unit is above average and capable of smothering opponents which is especially important in the tough AFC North with the high powered Cincinnati Bengals who have a superb passing game led by QB Carson Palmer. OG Alan Faneca is the leader of the offensive line for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but is not by any stretch the only standout of the group, OT Marvel Smith is another standout and is a terrific pass protector as well as a road grader in the run game.

OT Max Starks has tremendous potential and should someday be a all-pro, this unit is simply loaded and should continue to open huge holes and protect the passer. Super Bowl MVP Hines Ward is the most complete wide receiver in the league as he possesses great hands, deceptive speed, and is a devastating blocker who is not afraid to sacrifice his body, Ward has been selected to the pro bowl four consecutive seasons, with the loss of Antwaan Randle-El who signed with the Washington Redskins the Pittsburgh Steelers needed to find a replacement for him and did so via the draft as they selected Ohio State speedster Santonio Holmes who will stretch the defense and open up the middle for Ward and outstanding tight end Heath Miller who is already one of the five best at his position in only his second season. The beloved "bus" Jerome Bettis retired, and his tremendous power, heart, and smile will be sorely missed, but lightning fast Willie Parker who was the teams' leading rusher in '05 with 1,202 yards is more than ready to assume the lead ball carrier position and with oft injured RB Duce Staley ready to return the running attack of the Pittsburgh Steelers will be superb once again, QB Ben Roethlisberger will be an elite signal caller for a long time as he has great arm strength, size, and is the ultimate gamer, it appears that the backup duties will once again be handled by veteran Charlie Batch who proved last season he could still get the job done as with Roethlisberger unable to play against the Green Bay Packers, Batch guided the team to victory, the kicking game will once again be solid with punter Chris Gardocki and place-kicker Jeff Reed, in the looking closely at the Pittsburgh Steelers its evident that they will battle the Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, and Cincinnati Bengals for AFC supremacy look for the Pittsburgh Steelers to win 10 to 12 games and qualify for the postseason again with a legitimate shot at retaining their Super Bowl crown......Great moment in team history..........In 1979 the Pittsburgh Steelers won their fourth Super Bowl of the decade as they defeated the Los Angeles Rams 31-19, making them the first team in NFL history to win four Lombardi Trophies and the only team to win back-to-back Super Bowls twice.
