FS Stuart Schweigert tells about his journal
The team of Oakland Raiders’ FS Stuart Schweigert talked about the things that the Raiders have gone through this off-season. According to Schweigert, their last Mini-Camp was really great. The team finished their off-season the way it should be finished. The team had three days of concentrated practice and competition. Schweigert said that with it being the last Mini-Camp, the team could have let up and started thinking about their five weeks off but I saw none of that. He also said that they got better every week and the last week was no exception. In addition to this, they also had some important visitors come through to witness how hard the team has been working. Schweigert’s favorite was a man who started in my favorite movie, Predator and who also whipped up on Rocky Balboa. He was a linebacker for the Oakland Raiders, the great Carl Weathers. He was with the defense all three days taking notes, watching film, and even gave the team an inspiring speech. The next visitor was a phenomenal player for many years in the National Football League. He is a future Hall of Famer, a former Raider, and a fellow Boilermaker. It was Rod Woodson. According to Schweigert, it was great to have an opportunity to talk with Rod on the field. He also stated that, there is a reason why he has had so many achievements in the league, not only because he is a gifted athlete but he knows everything is there to know about football. The team of Raiders was also visited by legendary Head Coach and Pro Football Hall of Famer, Bill Walsh. Schweigert did not get a chance to talk to him but, he felt great to see him out on our practice fields.
The next day was the Oakland Raiders’ Golf Classic, after the Mini-Camp was finished. The event was intended for benefiting Special Olympics of Northern California. According to Schweigert it is a great event for a great cause and everyone had a tremendous time, indeed. He also believed that he could have been put into a better foursome. He was joined up with the Lieutenant, a Sergeant, and the Captain of the Alameda Police Department. Once the golf tournament was finished, Schweigert, together with Isaiah Ekejiuba and Kirk Morrison went to Vegas for the weekend. Schweigert said that it was great to get away with some of his teammates and not have to think about coaches or schedules. Schweigert got back Sunday evening and flew out the next morning to good ol' Michigan. He got a chance to surprise his family and also got to do something he hasn’t done in a long time. And that was to spend his birthday with his family. Schweigert’s birthday was June 21st and he spent it the only way he know how in Saginaw, at the bowling alley. According to him, with such a big family and a ton of friends it is hard for all of them to go to a place where kids and adults can have fun so he rented out 14 lanes and they had a ball.
Schweigert left from Detroit’s airport on Saturday along with his little brother Brandon. Schweigert said that it was overwhelming to spend some time with him because he plays hockey at Ohio University and has a very busy schedule himself. On Sunday Brandon and Schweigert, together with Jarrod Cooper, and Robert Gallery, met down in San Jose for a car show his “Stuart Schweigert. Shadow” suit line was sponsoring. The event turned out great and all the proceeds went to help for the Liver Foundation. According to Schweigert things do not slow down there. In addition, this weekend Schweigert is on his way to attend Chris Carr's wedding.
It was such a great time for Stuart Schweigert and he really enjoyed his time during the off-season as well as his time with his family. He will surely be inspired for this coming NFL season.
