Raiders Ended Mini Camp
There was a different look as the Oakland Raiders finished their off-season workouts. The Raiders’ voluntary mini camp ended Wednesday and on July 27, the players will take the field once again for practice as the training camp opens. Josh McCown together with JaMarcus Russell have become the top quarterbacks, Randy Moss has been shipped out and the offensive line has undergone constant tinkering. Lane Kiffin said, “I think we learned they're willing to compete and they're willing to practise the way we want to practice,” he continued “They're willing to put in the time and effort the things we need them to do. We think we came out of this thing with great results as far as the way they have accepted the things that we need them to do.”
Furthermore, it was the quarterback that showed biggest improvements since Lane Kiffin first took over. The Oakland Raiders have been impressed with JaMarcus Russell’s performance as the team used their No.1 overall draft pick on Russell of LSU. Much of the focus in the off-season moves and in the practices has been on improving an offence that scored only 12 touchdowns last season. That ineptitude was a big reason the team finished 2-14 and coach Art Shell was fired after the season. The preparation that the Oakland Raiders undergo will help the team determine their strength in the field and change their weaknesses.
