The Oakland Raiders has a mini-camp scheduled for the team as Offseason Training Activities have concluded for the Raiders. Coaches have used the OTAs to move players around into different positions as well as different methods on offense and defense. As players hustled between drills on the practice field, competition for roster spots continued throughout these practices. Head Coach Lane Kiffin said that, “We try to do different things, especially with a new team and a new staff, to go over all kinds of situations that could happen.” The players have been able to use the things that they have learned in the classroom immediately on the field.
It was helpful that the players have been positive during Offseason Training Activities. Every player believes that the season is in their controls. SS Jarrod Cooper believes that it keeps the fun in the game as well as reminds them that they are playing a game.
The goal of the coaches is to get the best players onto the field in every situation as they have put players through position drills and team drills. Jarrod Cooper said that if you have good OTAs, training camp becomes much easier as Coach Kiffin has put it in their hands. The OTA motivates the Oakland Raiders to acquire more excitement, more determination, and more enthusiasm. S Michael Huff even stated that, “Everybody’s flying around like it’s the beginning of OTAs, even though this is the end.” The OTAs was used by Head Coach Lane Kiffin, as an opportunity for both sides of the ball to learn the entire playbook. Kiffin spent times reviewing the plays with both coordinators Head Coach Lane Kiffin stated that, “That’s so I totally understand what we’re doing – our philosophy, our schemes. It’s good. We go in every day after practice and we watch film together as a whole staff so the whole staff understands it. The more our offensive guys hear them [the defensive staff] and vice versa, the more we learn as a staff.” Some of the players and coaches are volunteering at the Youth Skills Camp at Raiders Alameda, California facility. They have a short weekend ahead and will be back on the field for the final enhancement during mini-camp before training camp starts in late July.
The players of the Oakland Raiders team were delighted on their Offseason Training Activities. The OTA will help them be aware of the things that they must improve and their great skills that they must enhance and at the same time promotes excellent team building. Everyone feels great and the I’m in! motto that first appeared a few short months ago, was still evident as players ran off the practice field into the locker room. It’s so valuable to go through those situations because we don’t need pads to be in those situations. A lot of that is mental. It’s been good for us.”
