With the 2008 NFL Draft bringing in some key fresh meat into the green and yellow jerseys this year, the Packers made nothing but great selections. Wide receiver Jordy Nelson from Kansas State , quarterback Brian Brohm from Louisville and cornerback Patrick Lee from Auburn were all second-round picks. Plucked out in the third round was tight end Jermichael Finley from Texas , and the fourth round brought about the talent of defensive end Jeremy Thompson from Wake Forest and offensive guard Josh Sitton coming from Central Florida . Offensive tackle Breno Giacomini from Louisville, quarterback Matt Flynn from LSU and wide receiver Brett Swain from San Diego State brought in the group of nine rookies brought on to Green Bay Packers this draft.

Along with the draft came quite a few additions to the Packers for their 2008 season that only add to the beauty of the potential this coming season brings. Offensive tackle Joe Toledo coming from the Miami Dolphins, long snapper Thomas Gafford from the Seahawks, linebacker Brandon Chillar from the Rams are a few of the experienced talent that was brought onto the Packers this off season. Through free agency Taj Smith, Ken DeBauche, Jake Allen, Rod Harper, Kregg Lumpkin, Marcus Riley, J. J. Jansen, Mike Peterson and a few others are now signed with Green Bay .

Through additions comes subtractions, and the Packers saw quite a bit in the off season. Tight end Bubbah Franks, wide receiver Carlyle Holiday and wide receiver Koren Robinson were all let off the roster. One of the largest hits the Packers felt this off season, and fans around the world mourned, was the retirement of legendary quarterback Brett Favre on March 4 th . He will have quite the shoes to fill for quite some time that is for sure.
