The New York Giants, also known as Jersey Giants, G-Men, and the big blue, is one of the great teams of the National Football League. The team of New York Giants is homed in Giants Stadium, which is also called the Meadowlands. The team is based in the New York City metropolitan area. The New York Giants is a member of the Eastern Division of the National Football Conference.

The magnificent team of the New York Giants was founded in 1925 by Tim Mara who is a successful businessman and lawyer. In the first season of the Giants in NFL, the team was considered as gifted, indeed, upon finishing in 4th place, with eight wins and four losses. By the season of 1927, the New York Giants experienced a huge winning moment as they finished the season with 11 wins and only 1 loss; the team became the NFL Champions as early as their third month in the National Football League. In 1934, the New York Giants once again finished first in the Eastern Division of NFL eleven games to three, defeating the Chicago Bears with 30-13, who first defeated the team during the 1933 NFL Championship. The success of the New York Giants was consistent during the 1930s.

By 1938, the New York Giants were the NFL Champions, defeating the Green Bay Packers with 23-17. In 1956, however, the team of the Giants defeated the Chicago Bears once again in the Championship with 47-7. From 1964 to 1980, the New York Giants started to struggle to win the NFL title.

In 1981, with a 9-7 finishing record and being third in the eastern division, the New York Giants won the Wild Card Playoffs over the Philadelphia Eagles by 27-21. In addition to this, the 1984 and 1985 playoffs led the team to a Wild Card Playoffs win against the L.A. Rams and San Francisco 49ers, with 16-13 and 17-3, respectively. The 1986 season gave way to the success of the Giants upon winning the Super Bowl XXI. With a season record of 14-2, the team finished first in the Eastern division and was able to win the Divisional Playoffs against the San Francisco 49ers by 49-3. The Giants was then advanced to the Conference Championship when they faced and defeated the Washington Redskins with 17-0. During the Super Bowl XXI, however, the New York Giants scored twenty-six unanswered points during the second, third, and fourth quarters. The game resulted to a 39-20 victory of the New York Giants. Furthermore, Giants quarterback Phil Simms was named the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player.

The Super Bowl success of the New York Giants was followed by the season of 1990. The Giants acquired a season record of 13-3, won the Divisional Playoffs against the Chicago Bears with 31-3, and won as well the Conference Championship over the San Francisco 49ers with 15-13, which made them advance to the Super Bowl XXV. Because of the Gulf War, the Super Bowl XXV (New York Giants vs. Buffalo Bills) was played under a general feeling of nationalistic dedication. Accordingly, the event included an inspiring rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner by Whitney Houston. New York Giants running back Ottis Anderson, who carried the ball 21 times for 102 yards and one touchdown, was named Super Bowl MVP. Anderson also recorded one reception for seven yards. However, the game is best remembered for Bills placekicker Scott Norwood's last second field goal attempt which went wide right, losing the game for the Bills.

2008 was a successful season for the New York Giants as they captured the NFC East with an 11-5 record in franchise quarterback Eli Manning's first year as a full-time starter, running back Tiki Barber was superb all season and dominated, rushing for 1,860 yards and fumbling only one time in 357 rushing attempts, while Manning threw for 3,762 yards and 24 touchdowns and Plaxico Burress contributed 1,214 receiving yards and caught seven touchdowns, defensively the New York Giants were below average in many categories as they had trouble at times stopping the run and could be gashed by enemy passers, they made up for their many shortcomings by registering 36 takeaways which ranked third in the NFL and forced 19 fumbles which led the NFL, and have some outstanding stars on defense like defensive end Michael Strahan and recently acquired linebacker LaVar Arrington.

The quarterback position will be in good hands as Eli Manning will continue to get better and improve on his '05 stats as he must decrease his interception total of 17 to become an elite player at his position which he should, Manning has all the tools (rocket arm, great size, knowledge of the game) to be a pro bowl caliber signal caller for the next decade, Tim Hasselbeck and Jared Lorenzen offer depth at the position, but it is clear that Eli Manning must stay healthy or the New York Giants will experience a huge drop-off in productivity at the position. Offensive line is a spot that must and can improve, OT Luke Petitgout and RG Chris Snee are the best of a bunch that despite nearly producing a 2,000 runner must be more consistent and have more tenacity when encountering the leagues top defensive fronts, tight end Jeremy Shockey is one of the three best at his position in the entire league as he possesses a great hands and the ability to get into the seam of defenses for big gains and always plays hard, he is simply a gamer. After last season's performance Tiki Barber firmly established himself as one of the top running backs in the NFL, he is everything you want in a back, he can run, catch, and is a willing blocker and should gain at least 1,500 yards in '06 ,big Brandon Jacobs is the no.2 runner and can be overwhelming in short yardage situations due to his stout frame (6'0 257) and has a good burst when in the open field, receiver is a very strong spot for the New York Giants as Plaxico Burress was terrific last year, especially near the goal line where he used his height, size, and reach to his advantage and made life miserable for small cornerbacks, his running mate at wideout is Amani Toomer who is also big, strong, and can be troublesome for defenders in the red zone, with second round draft pick Sinorice Moss who is a 4.3 speedster stretching the field it could make the passing attack of the New York Giants very difficult to stop.

On defense the strength of the New York Giants is the defensive line led by DE's Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora who are terrific pass rushers as well as being sturdy against the run, both made the pro bowl in '05 and should again be a quarterbacks nightmare, at defensive tackle William Joseph is set for a breakout season and has tons of ability and should be a good run stuffer, this unit is one of the best in the NFL and has tremendous depth as second year man DE Justin Tuck who is an outstanding prospect and has a nonstop motor is a backup for the New York Giants, but could be a starter with 10-sack capability on another team, and there’s also first round draft pick DE Mathias Kiwanuka out of Boston College who is a tremendous pass rusher who will harass passer from the opening whistle, in all this group is simply awesome and should dominate this season. With the acquisition of pro bowl linebacker LaVar Arrington and Antonio Pierce who is returning from injury the line backing corps should be solid if not spectacular and have the ability to excel against the run or pass, Eric Moore was a pleasant surprise as a rookie and will be counted on to contributed once again, in the secondary improvements were made as the New York Giants acquired veteran CB Sam Madison who is still an above average cover man and will team with young Corey Webster and form what could be a dynamic duo, safety Will Demps who was a pro bowler with the Baltimore Ravens will certainly help as he can cover tight ends and some receivers and is a intimidating hitter, this unit has a chance to be one of the best in the NFC. Jay Feely will be the place-kicker and is solid inside 50 yards; veteran Jeff Feagles will handle the punting duties. In all the New York Giants should battle the Dallas Cowboys for the NFC East title and win between 10 and 12 games and expect Manning and Barber to once again lead the offense which should be one of the best football, and the defense will be improved due to Arrington's presence and the d-line applying constant pressure, look for the New York Giants to return to the playoffs with a chance of making a deep run.

Great moment in team history......In 1986 the New York Giants made a mockery of the NFC behind their award winning defense that was led by 1986 NFL MVP OLB Lawrence Taylor who finished the season with 20 1/2 sacks, in the NFC playoffs against the San Francisco 49ers and Washington Redskins the New York allowed only seven points, but their was one last hurdle, John Elway and the Denver Broncos awaited them in the Super Bowl, quarterback Phil Simms was magnificent going 22-for-25 with 268 yards and three touchdown passes to set and NFL playoff mark of 88% completion and win the game MVP honors, after trailing 10-9 at halftime the New York Giants scored 24 unanswered points to blow the game wide open and went on to win 39-20 to conclude the greatest season in New York Giants history, going 17-2.
