  • Gearing up for their 76th season in the NFL, the Philadelphia Eagles are ready to kick it up a notch or more to improve their ending 2007 season with the 8-8 record they walked away with. With head coach Andy Reid and general manager Tom Heckert, the Eagles look like they are in pretty awesome shape for when September rolls around and their NFC East 2008 NFL season begins with a bang.

With a mascot like the Philadelphia Swoop and their “Fly, Eagles Fly”, fight song, the Eagles definitely have a strong fan base and support line that only pumps the boys reigning from Philadelphia , Pennsylvania up that much more. Established in 1933, the Eagles have quite the legacy that follows them through each and every game, with all the strong bonds that the team seems to constantly maintain throughout every change they go through and get hit with.

Not only do they Eagles have some of the most amazing NFL players in their hall of fame with legends such as Reggie White, Pete Pihos and Norm Van Brocklin, but they have an endless plethora of championship wins under their green, black, white and silver belts and helmets. With eleven division championships, three conference championships and three NFL championships, the Philadelphia Eagles definitely have proven themselves again and again and they are ready as ever to head into their 2008 season doing just that.

In the offseason, the Eagles saw a lot of roster changes, losses and additions. Among the losses were the works of linebacker Takeo Spikes, defensive end Jevon Kears and fullback Thomas Tapeh.

Yet, even with player losses like these the Eagles saw an awesome overflow of new Eagles talent signed on this offseason. Coming from the Patriots is cornerback Asante Samuel, defensive end Chris Clemons from the Oakland Raiders, defensive tackle Dan Klecko from the Indianapolis Colts, tight end L.J. Smith and fullback Luke Lawton who comes from the Indianapolis Colts as well. Many of these additions came to the Eagles through free agent signing, and this definitely did the Eagles well this season.

Coming on to the team through the 2008 NFL Draft picks are quite a few star players from all over the country. Defensive tackle Trevor Laws from Notre Dame, wide receiver DeSean Jackson from Cal State, defensive end Bryan Smith coming from McNeese State, offensive tackle Mike McGlynn from Pittsburgh, safety Quintin Demps from UTEP, cornerback Jack Ikegwuonu from Wisconsin, offensive tackle Mike Gibson coming from California, linebacker Joe Mays from North Dakota State, defensive end Andrew Studebaker from Wheaton and offensive tackle King Dunlap heading from Auburn all make out the ten rookies drafted for this upcoming 2008 season.

These additions definitely add a great new blooded dynamic to the Eagles so they can hopefully take in all of their roster changes and strong additions of new talent to kick their 2007 8-8 record in the rear.

The Philadelphia Eagles will kick off their 2008 season first game on Sunday, September 7th against the St. Louis Rams with a home game.
