The Dallas Cowboys are a professional American football franchise that plays in the National Football League. They are one of the four members of the Eastern Division of the National Football Conference. The Dallas Cowboys wear the colors royal blue, navy blue, metallic silver, silver, and white, and are currently based in Irving, Texas.

The Dallas-based team joined the National Football League as an expansion team in 1960. Dallas was officially awarded an NFL franchise on the 28th of January, 1960, and names considered for the team that were considered included the Dallas Steers and the Dallas Rangers, before deciding on the name “Dallas Cowboys.” Their debut season was marked by a haunting winless season record of 0-11. Fans with Dallas Cowboys tickets , however, saw their team steadily improve during the 60’s, acquiring talented players such as Bob Lilly, Don Meredith, Don Perkins, Bob Hayes, Chuck Howley, and Mel Renfro. The Dallas Cowboys had their first winning season in 1966, culminating in their first appearance at the NFL championship game against the Green Bay Packers, but lost after a 34-27 contest, ending the season with a record of 10-3-1. The Dallas Cowboys’ success carried on for the rest of the 60’s, consistently attending the playoffs for the rest of the decade.

Fans of the team with Dallas Cowboys tickets saw their team carry on their success through the 70’s. The Dallas Cowboys won their first conference championship in 1970, but lost in the 5th Super Bowl against the Miami Dolphins in a 16-13 game. The following season, fans with Dallas Cowboys tickets saw the team beat the 49ers for their second consecutive contest for the conference championship, but lost to the Miami Dolphins in the Super Bowl after a 14-3 contest. For the third consecutive year, the Dallas Cowboys had another shot at the conference championship in 1972, but lost to their bitter rivals, the Washington Redskins, after a 26-3 contest. Again, the Dallas Cowboys advanced to the conference championships in 1973, but bowed-out after facing the Minnesota Vikings in a 27-10 contest. In the 1974 season, the Dallas Cowboys failed attend in the playoffs after finishing on the 3rd spot of the NFC east. That season would be the only season when fans with Dallas Cowboys tickets would fail to see their team attend the playoffs for the rest of the decade.

After failing to attend the playoffs the previous season, the Dallas Cowboys jumped-back in the 1975 season. One of the highlights of the season was when Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach threw the game-winning “Hail Mary” pass to receiver Drew Pearson, to win the hard-fought divisional playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings. The Dallas Cowboys then upset the Los Angeles Rams for the conference championship, winning the game after a 37-7 contest. The Dallas Cowboys faced the Pittsburgh Steelers, but were thwarted on their quest for the Super Bowl title after a 21-17 game. The 1977 season was marked their second Super Bowl victory, after dispatching the Vikings in the conference championships, then defeating the Denver Bronco’s in a 27-10 contest to win the 12th Super Bowl. The following season, fans with Dallas Cowboys tickets again saw their team play in the Super Bowl, though the team lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers after a hard-fought 35-31 contest.

The 80’s was also a successful decade for the Dallas Cowboys, but was a far cry from the glory days they enjoyed during the 70’s. Fans with Dallas Cowboys tickets saw the team advance to the conference championship for three consecutive years, from the 1980 to the 1982 season, but were thwarted each time. The 80’s is also haunted by a dismal 1-15 performance in the 1989 season, but lady luck would again smile upon the Dallas Cowboys in the next decade.

The 90’s was, perhaps, the most successful decade for the Dallas Cowboys. Fans wit Dallas Cowboys tickets saw the team take the World Series title on all three seasons that they took the conference championship. The first Super Bowl title was extra special, since it marked the renaissance of the Dallas Cowboys to the Super Bowl. The Dallas Cowboys spurned the Bills on their second consecutive attempt for the Super Bowl title by steam rolling through them in a 52-17 game.

For some franchises a 9-7 record would be considered a successful year and something to talk about, but not for the Dallas Cowboys who are accustomed to playoff appearances and Super Bowl wins, last year the Dallas Cowboys were a good team but nothing special and were basically carried by their defense which has gotten even stronger due to free agency, the NFL draft, and young players becoming more comfortable and experienced, as for the offensive unit of the Dallas Cowboys QB Drew Bledsoe played well despite the fact that RB Julius Jones missed several games and that the offensive line was a little green in some areas, but the offense figures to be much improved in 2008 as the Dallas Cowboys acquired all-pro wide receiver Terrell Owens, who can be a problem on and off the field but should be on his best behavior due to the fact that this may be his last chance before he is blackballed from the league.

With that said it must also be stated that Owens is one of the best players in the NFL regardless of position and can make a good team great which is the definition of a difference maker. Defensive tackle Jason Ferguson will be the anchor of the d-line, especially with the loss of pro bowler LaRoi Glover via free agency, Ferguson is a bit undersized but plays with great leverage and is extremely intelligent, rookie Montavious Stanley figures to get a look at DT as well, defensive end will be a major strength for the Dallas Cowboys as second-year man Marcus Spears is terrific combo end who has no real weakness, he will team with veteran Greg Ellis and form a rock solid tandem that will give enemy runners and passers plenty of trouble. Linebacker will be the strongest group on the Dallas Cowboys with DeMarcus Ware leading the way, who was sensational in '05 terrorizing passers both as a rusher and pass defender, Bradie James is tough against the run from his inside linebacker spot, Al Singleton and Kevin Burnett are big physical hitters who can play both the pass and run, Bobby Carpenter of Ohio State was the Dallas Cowboys first round draft choice and should contribute right away, he fits the mold of how head coach Bill Parcells likes his linebackers big, fast, and very punishing. The secondary for the Dallas Cowboys was superb against the pass as CB Terrance Newman is rapidly becoming a star along with pro bowl safety Roy Williams, veteran Aaron Glenn is still an above average cornerback with good speed, Marcus Coleman is another seasoned veteran who can provide leadership while still having good ball skills, the wildcard of the secondary may be Pat Watkins who drafted in the fifth round out of Florida State, some feel he has a tremendous upside and could challenge for a starting position sooner than later.Flozell Adams is one of the best offensive tackles in the NFL and is nearly impossible to get around, he will be the leader of the offensive line with veteran OG Marco Rivera, in all this unit has a chance to be very good as youngster OT Rob Petitti made huge strides in his rookie season and has the makings of a dominant blocker. Running back is going another strong position as Julius Jones and Marion Barber will get the majority of the carries and will be a terrific duo that could amass 2,000 on the ground, with the acquisition of Terrell Owens the wide receiver position will be dynamic as he will have to be double covered constantly leaving speedy Terry Glenn one-on-one which is a mismatch against no.2 cornerback in the league, Patrick Crayton also adds speeds as does recently drafted Skylark Green who can be a dangerous punt and kick returner.

Tight End Jason Witten is one of the best at his position in the entire league, with rookie Anthony Fasano adding depth, new place-kicker Mike Vanderjagt will instantly be a pro bowler and give the Dallas Cowboys and huge advantage in close games, in the final analysis of the Dallas Cowboys for 2008 expect them to win the NFC East and be one of the top two seeds in the playoffs as Terrell Owens dominates and the Dallas defense stifles opponents, a Super Bowl appearance is not out of the question as the Dallas Cowboys will be one of the best teams in the NFL this upcoming season......Great moment in team history.....1995, the Dallas Cowboys win their thirds Super Bowl in four years as they defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-17 at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona ,Emmitt Smith wins his fourth rushing title by running for 1,773 yards and ten Dallas Cowboys are selected to represent the NFC in the Pro Bowl.
