Dallas Cowboys History and Info.
As the Dallas Cowboys head into their forty-eighth season in the NFL, they are ready as ever to start up this coming 2008 NFC East season with a bang. 2007 brought about quite an epic year for the Cowboys, as they came out 13-3, as well as holding onto the NFC East title. This 2008 season can bring about only that much more success.
Ever since they graced the football field when they were established in 1960, coming from Irving, Texas, the Dallas Cowboys have molded into a team few and far between that embraces the power and bond of a true blue American football team, who have coined the nickname "America's Team". Under the ownership of Jerry Jones, who as well takes the role as the Cowboy's general manager and head coach Wade Phillips- the Dallas Cowboys definitely have quite the powerful and strong cornerstone to their on field talent.
Not only did the Cowboys have a killer 2007 season ending 13-3, they have had a killer history as a strong and traditionally valued team. Also referred to by many as "The Boys", the Cowboys have to this day taken home a grand total of five Super Bowl Championships in 1971, 1977, 1992, 1993 and 1995. As well the Cowboys have had twenty-nine playoff appearances.
During their offseason, the Dallas Cowboys have seen many changes heading into their 2008 season. Wide receiver Terry Glenn was released, as well as full back Oliver Hoyte who has gone on to the Kansas City Chiefs. Safety Keith Davis moved over to the Miami Dolphins, running back Julius Jones went to the
Seattle Seahawks for a four year deal, cornerback Jacques Reeves moved to the Houston Texans and defensive tackle Jason Fergusson, tight end Antholy Fasano and linebacker Akin Ayodele all headed for the Miami Dolphins as well.
With the goodbyes, come the hellos to the new member of the 2008 season for the Cowboys. Defensive back Adam Jones, aka "Pacman" was added to the roster. Long snapper L. P. Ladouceur and left offensive tackle Flozell Adams were re-signed this offseason, as well as the signing of the epic and talented linebacker Zach Thomas.
Another great move for the Dallas Cowboys as they beef up their roster for their 2008 season was the amazing picks they made during the 2008 NFL Draft. In the first round, twenty-second pick running back Felix Jones from Arkansas, and twenty-fifth pick cornerback Mike Jenkins from South Florida started off their additions with a talented bang. Next was tight end Martellus Bennett from Texas A&M, running back Tashard Choice coming from Georgia Tech, cornerback Orlando Scandrick from Boise State and the works of 6' 2" ad 243 pound defensive end Erik Walden from Middle Tennessee State.
This years draft definitely brought about some great new rookie blood that knows a thing or two about playing ball with the best of them, which is why they are now rocking the silver, navy and white that makes up the honor of the Dallas Cowboys uniforms. The Dallas Cowboys will be kicking off the beginning of their 2008 season on September 7 th against the Cleveland Browns at the Cleveland Brown Stadium.
