December,29,2013 Soldier Field (Football) Heading into their 89 th season since they have been a part of the world of the National Football League, the Chicago Bears are looking pretty nice from all points of view. The Bears 2007 season did not bring the best out of the boys, as they finished 7-9 and didn't qualify for the playoffs. In comparison, the Bears are looking ready as ever to head into their 2008 season come September.
After they ended their 2007 season, the Bears had a lot of decisions to make about this upcoming season and how they were going to change their game because something obviously wasn't working for them. A large part of their strength that they have obtained since was through their use of free agency. A lot of the decisions the team made concerning the amount they were going to spend on free agency went towards continuing relationships with players that were already on the team, which was a great move on their part.
Among the returning signatures and sealed deals for the Chicago Bears are the talent and strength of kicker Robbie Gould, defensive tackle Tommie Harris, tight end Desmond Clark, wide receiver Rashied David and the endless talent of old school players Kevin Jones and Shaun Alexander.
The 2008 NFL Draft also brought about a fresh new group of rookies. Coming from Vandebilt is offensive tackle Chris Williams and wide receiver Earl Bennett, running back Matt Forte from Tulane, defensive tackle Marcus Harrison from Arkansas, safety Craig Steltz coming from LSU, Zack Bowman the corner back from Nebraska, tight end Kellen Davis and defensive end Ervin Baldwin both coming from Michigan State, offensive guard Chester Adams from Georgia, offensive tackle Kirk Barton from Ohio State, wide receiver Marcus Monk heading out from Arkansas and who can deny the strength of line backer Loey LaRocque from Oregon State? This is definitely a great group of picks for the Bears' 2008 season.
Under the wings of owner Virginia Halas McCasky, chair man Michael McCaskey, general manager Jerry Angelo and head coach Lovie Smith, the Bears are looking at a great 2008 season that will hopefully redeem their 2007 overall performance.
Da Bears are kicking off their much anticipated 2008 NFC Central season on Sunday, September 7 th facing off against the Indianapolis Colts.
