The Pocono 500 is the first of two stock car races held at the Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania, on the NASCAR Nextel Cup schedule in mid-June, the other being the Pennsylvania 500, usually held in July.

Edwards’ Ford led 45 of 201 laps and beat the Chevrolet of Brian Vickers in a race that ended under caution on the 2.5-mile triangle. Edwards took the lead for the fourth and final time on Lap 187. Vickers led six times for 121 laps, both race highs.
The Pocono 500 is held at the Pocono Raceway. It is one of a very few NASCAR tracks not owned by either Speedway Motorsports, Inc. or International Speedway Corporation, the dominant track owners in NASCAR. It is owned by the Mattioli family, which also owns South Boston Speedway in South Boston, Virginia, and administers the Music City Motorplex at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds in Nashville, Tennessee.
