WWE SummerSlam Staples Center Tickets!
The WWE SummerSlam began in 1988. The first event was hosted at the Madison Square Garden in New York , NY . It was broadcast as a television special on the USA Network and was referred to as the Biggest Event of the Summer. Today the WWE SummerSlam is considered the second biggest event out of four main WWE events each year; the biggest of which is the WWE WrestleMania. The WWE SummerSlam began as a part of the first rivalry in televised wrestiling between the original WWF and another franchise called Starrcade, which first aired in 1983. WrestleMania III is still the most viewed pay-per-view event in history. In 1987 the founder of the WWF and WrestleMania created the Survivor Series franchise and chose to air it the same day as Starrcade 1987. After accruing higher viewership and ratings than Starrcade, the founder then made the Royal Rumble and aired it on USA Networks, setting a ratings record for eight million households. In retaliation, the Starrcade founder created the Clash of the Champions, choosing to air it at the same time as WresleMania IV. WrestleManiaIV once again beat Starrcade in ratings, forcing its founder into bankruptcy.
The WWF slowly replaced all of its airing with pay-per-view. In addition to the already existing WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, and Survivor Series, the founder introduced the SummerSlam. Today the four events are considered the “Big Four” in professional wrestling. The pay-per-view airing of the WWE SummerSlam garners in hundreds of millions of dollars in revenues annually. Tickets to this coveted event are limited. Don't miss your chance to catch this exciting event live at the Staples Center .
