David Sedaris is a Grammy nominated comedian, author, and radio personality. In the past David Sedaris has been called the Rock Star of Writers. Born in NY and raised in Raleigh , North Carolina , David Sedaris dropped out of Western Carolina University where he transferred to Kent State University , dropped out of that and subsequently graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. David Sedaris worked a long line of odd jobs. He was discovered however in a Chicago club by Ira Glass, a radio host who was intrigued when he caught a show of David Sedaris reading from his diary. David Sedaris says that Ira Glass is the sole reason for his success. David Sedaris made his radio debut on December 23, 1992. He became wildly popular instantaneously after he read his radio essay on Morning Edition entitled Santaland Diaries. This led to David Sedaris recording a monthly segment for NPR. David Sedaris has an official release of eight story and essay collections, almost forty essays for the New Yorker, ten audio recordings, and has been on dozens of episodes of This American Life. David Sedaris has a huge fan following due to his multi-genre and multi-talented feats.
