Yanni Facts and Information:
New Age artist Yanni, born in Kalamata , Greece in 1954, is a pianist, keyboardist, and composer. After moving to the United States to finish his psychology degree, upon graduation Yanni made the transition over to music. His first album Dare to Dream, was released in 1992 and earned him his first Grammy nomination.
Yanni's second album In My Time earned him his second Grammy nomination. This also led to the commercialization of his music; with features in major world sporting events such as the Super Bowl, U.S. Open, Tour de France, World Figure Skating Championships, The Olympics, ABC News, and many more.
Yanni's live album Yanni Live at the Acropolis, broadcast on PBS, has been seen in 65 countries by almost 500 million people, making it one of the most successful live albums ever to be released by an artist anywhere. It is the second best-selling music video of all-time as well, with over seven million copies sold across the globe.
To date Yanni has released eleven albums with his twelfth set to release in 2009. He has performed on seven soundtracks, released five live albums, eleven compilation albums, and has been featured with other artists on Pure Moods and many more.
