Eagles is an American rock group founded in 1970 and is considered responsible for some of the most nostalgic songs of the 20 th century. In their first decade of making music together, the Eagles created five songs that were #1 singles and six albums that reached #1. They came up with songs that embodied American youth during that time period, such as Hotel California, Take it Easy, Witchy Woman, Peaceful Easy Feeling, Desperado, Tequila Sunrise, Outlaw Man, and countless many more.

Eagles members broke it off in 1980 and no one thought they would ever regroup. During their time away from Eagles, each member tried individually, and with some moderate success, to reinvent themselves as solo artists. Then, after fourteen years apart, they reunited in 1994 with the release of their second live album, Hell Freezes Over.

After their comeback, Eagles members insisted they were never broken up; that they merely took a "fourteen year vacation". To date, the Eagles accomplishments in music is unprecedented. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2001. They have won six Grammy awards, two of which were recent; in 2009 and 2008.
