Denis Leary Facts and Information:
Denis Leary is a Golden Globe and Emmy award nominated actor, stand-up, writer, and director. Born August 18, 1951, this multi-faceted Leo got his first taste of entertainment while attending the prestigious entertainment college, Emerson. While attending classes there, Denis Leary co-founded the Emerson Comedy Workshop, still active today.
Denis Leary, though born in Worcester , Massachusetts , is of Irish descent and frequently uses self-deprecating jokes about his heritage in his stand-up acts. During the 80's, Denis Leary hosted his own show and also appeared on the comedy series, Lenny Clarke's Late Show.
Denis Leary got his first big taste of national exposure after doing a sketch on MTV ranting about R.E.M. He soon landed more and more MTV commercials, as well as released two stand-up comedy albums. He is also known for his 1993 hit song “Asshole”, which reached #2 on the Australian charts. Due to the explicit nature of the song, exposure in the U.S. was limited.
Along with his stand-up success, Denis Leary has appeared in over 40 movies and has done voice over work in countless more.
