Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood are old friends, dating back to the 1960's when Steve Winwood first joined Eric Clapton's group, Eric Clapton's Powerhouse. That name didn't last long and for one year Winwood and Clapton played together in Blind Faith, which consisted of Cream drummer Ginger Baker, Steve Winwood of Traffic, and Ric Grech of Family. Their first show premiered before 100,000 fans at Hyde Park . It has been many years since the two officially regrouped, but they got together in 2008 at New York 's Madison Square Garden and had so much fun they decided to join forces once again for a 2009 tour.
Individually each artist has made a big name for themselves in the Blue Eyed Soul genre. Beginning a solo career in 1977, Steve Winwood has released nine studio albums. In 1989 he was nominated at the American Music Awards for Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist and has embarked on countless tours.
Eric Clapton has released almost twenty studio albums as a solo artist, eight live albums, eleven compilations, and has collaborated in and with other bands in over a hundred albums. To date he has won multiple Grammy's, has been awarded the Silver Clef Award and the Order of the British Empire, as well as being promoted to the Commander of the British Empire in 2004.
