The Grateful Dead Concert Tour Information:
The Grateful Dead has not embarked on a multi-city U.S. tour in five years. Now, with their remaining surviving members of The Dead, they will begin their eight-week, 16-city 2009 U.S. Grateful Dead Tour on April 12 in Greensboro .
Recently, in support of Presidential Elect Barack Obama, Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann, and Mickey Hart, played together at the 2008 Rally Show. Now joined by Jeff Chimenti and Warren Haynes, the band members say Obama inspired them to push their musical talents further.
The Grateful Dead formed in 1965 out of the Bay Area. They gained much notoriety not only for their very new and different style of music, but also for their highly publicized following of fans involved in drug busts.
After band member Jerry Garcia died in 1995, who was often considered the heart and soul of the bands musical style, the rest of the band began touring under the pseudo name The Other Ones. However, in 2003, they converted back to being called The Dead. Now you can see these musical legends performing at their best at The Forum in Los Angeles this May 9, 2009.
