Dorothy Chandler Pavilion Schedule
As part of the Los Angeles Music Center , there is no place more elegant to catch an Opera than the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Dorothy Buffum Chandler, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion's namesake, was the vehicle for entertainment change in Los Angeles in the 1960's. For nine years she fought for a better musical interest in Los Angeles , and wanted the Los Angeles Philharmonic to have a place worthy of performances. She was granted approval for the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion by promising Los Angeles one day a year where it was free to get in and open to the public, and began construction in 1962.
The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion made its introduction on December 4, 1964 with classical music by the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Its beautiful four-tiered seating chart holds close to 3,200 people. Its majestic chandeliers, towering Roman columns outside, high ceilings, and grand stairways lend to its capacity for timeless moments. From 1969 to 1987, 1990-1994, 1996, and again in 1999, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion was host to the ever-glamorous Academy Awards ceremony.
Broken up into the Orchestra, Circle, Loge, and Balcony, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion seating is designed to accommodate every seating preference. And each of those sections is divided into smaller ones. It is more than accommodating to its guests, with wheelchair accessibility as well as the Phonic Ear sound system for those having difficulty hearing.
Today it is home to the Los Angles Opera Company. The Philharmonic moved next door to the Disney Hall, it is also primary home to the Music Center Dance. And, as promised, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion is open on Christmas Eve each year for its Holiday Celebration from 3:00 - 9:00 PM.
You can purchase Dorothy Chandler Pavilion Parking passes for your event. The Los Angeles Music Center offers underground parking for all four of its venues. During weekdays, the parking rates can be quite high as charge per time increments rather than a flat rate. The matinee/evening rates begin after 6:00 and are usually an $8.00 flat rate. Valet parking is also an option for $20.00. There is also a lot at the Department of Water and Power if you enter through Gate 6 off of Hope St. for $5.00.
Feel free to call us regarding any questions you have about the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion parking..
The Joffrey Ballet and
