The Los Angeles Ahmanson Theatre has been a prominent venue for musicals and dramas for over 40 years. It is one of the four main venues of the Los Angeles Music Center. The Ahmanson Theater Los Angeles has also served as co-producer for many Broadway hits such as Amadeus, Smokey Joe's Café, Curtains and The Drowsy Chaperone. Some other famous musicals presented by the Ahmanson Theatre Los Angeles include Sweeney Todd, Jersey Boys, My Fair Lady and Doubt. The theatre has been honored with more than 50 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards for excellence in production.

Through the years, many movers and shakers of the entertainment world have graced the Los Angeles Ahmanson Theater with their presence; some of them being Rex Harrison, James earl Jones, Katherine Hepburn and Cherry Jones.

The Ahmanson Theatre Los Angeles had a major makeover in the year 1995, which allowed for an astounding seating capacity of 1600-2000. This variable seating capacity enables the theater to host a wide variety of plays – from the very intimate to the wildly flamboyant.
